Just got a CT now want to go mod crazy. Whats the best chip?
Just got a CT now want to go mod crazy. Whats the best chip?
I have an S4 so I am leaning to GIAC. How is the Techart? I know for sure I am getting the Techart lowering chip. What's a good website with a lot of mods for our CT?
congrats!!! i miss my CT. probably going to get another one after the face-left.
as for the chip, GIAC's flashload program just came out for CT. u can contact me for detail. we also carry EuroRev chip as well. for lowering, go with Techart. it's built in to ur stock switch so no second switch required. we have it in stock ready to go.

The biggest difference between the two is that the Techart unit is an ECU swap. This is good because you retain your old one and in theory can swap them for service or if you ever had an air suspension problem the dealer couldn't give you a hard time.
This is bad because when I swapped my stock air suspension ecu with the techart the air suspension would not work until it was calibrated by the Porsche dealer using the Porsche Tool computer. Also once you are calibrated for the Techart ECU I don't think you can simply just swap the ECUs I think to go back to stock you would need to get recalibrated. Since you have to go to the dealer to get it to work, this defeats the whole purpose of ECU swapping.
I took my CT with the TechArt ECU to my local Porsche Service Department and they refused to do it saying that if it caused me to be in an accident I could sue them and they allow any installation of parts that would could cause that. They even called Porsche America or someone higher up while I was there to check.
So I returned it and got the Cargraphic unit. It is a piggy back unit which means it is harder to install yourself. I had Eric @ Cargraphic install mine in NJ before they moved to FL.
The nice part about the Cargraphic unit that I REALLY like is that rather than lowering 4 modes and raising the super off road mode like Techart it lowers all 5, BUT has a switch to return to stock on the fly. So in reality I now have 10 suspension modes rather than 5. I keep it in stock mode "normal" or "low" in the winter and it lives in lowered mode "low" setting in the summer(unless I need to use another setting for whatever reason...carwash rails, offroad, etc).
I can't speak for the TechArt unit, but the Cargraphic unit also firms up the 3 suspension settings (comfort, normal and sport) by about 20-25% so switching the Cargraphic unit off and on also gives me the choice of 6 suspension firmness settings.
Hope this helps!

As for GIAC, I had an Audi A4 and a TTq both with GIAC software and loved them. Garrett himself custom did my TT as it was one of the first quattros he chiped and he custom did my K04 chip as well. I know him and his quality of work very well.
That said, $2000 for the CT software blows me away. I could understand and would [b]gladly[b] pay $2000 for a spare ECU to swap with the stock one, but not just for the program.
I decided I will check out the Upsolute! CT chip. For $500-$600 I don't have much to lose and I have a AWD dyno right up the street from me which I already have a baseline dyno on, so I will do another now that I have Fabspeed bypass pipes on and then get the chip done and dyno that.
Also others with CT's here have posted good feedback about the improvement with the Upsolute! software:
