What to Buy?

I am looking at a Cayenne for the wife and was wondering what trim level everyone thought would be appropriate for this application and what options are a must, great to have and not needed. I have looked at a 2009 CPO GTS and I really like it, but there is an S that is really nice as well. I found an 08 turbo that fits the bill as well.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. As always, thanks for the input.

GTS48 is infamous around these parts
Hi,

I had the same situation 3 months ago, what model of cayenne i can buy S / GTS / TURBO ?
I love the TURBO look of the cayenne, and i love V8 engine, so my choise was a 2009 Cayenne GTS in a brown color. I enjoy it, the engine seems to be more powerfool and with the Sport exhaust option the sound is splendid.

Well.....since you did not mention price. The the turbo is the obvious choice since it has more of everything stock.

i'd buy a 2011+!

if you haven't already... i would go check out the new model cayenne and compare it with the previous gen. from the exterior it really isn't THAT different... but it's the interior that i think is so much better.

if it's for the wifey... she probably really won't care about getting a v6. so '09 turbo for 60k or 2012 v6 for 60k.

You married the wrong girl!!!!!!! Buy the 09 turbo.!!!!!

It should still have more features and luxury than an 11 v6 and TWICE THE GO POWER!!!!!

I was in the same boat a few months ago. I wanted to stay in the 60's on the price. Was looking at used turbo's and GTS with low20k mileage. Loved the turbo and GTS then drove '11s. The feel of the interior was so superior I could not go back to the older model. My '11 V6 should be here in a couple weeks (just went through the Panama Canal yesterday). I had no problem with the V6, obviously not in the same class power wise, but with less weight in the front end it is very nimble and fun to drive.

If your wife doesn't need a 500hp truck, and you are looking in the 60K price range, take a look at a new one. That being said you probably can't go wrong either way.

George

I would imagine that a full leather, nav, fully optioned 957 turbo is still better than a bottom of the line 958, plastic dash, no power FMradio V6.

Guys:

Thanks for all the advice. I am trying to stick in the $60's on price and buy used. I still have two kids at home that consider the car an extension of our wastebasket and my wife last cleaned a car herself sometime in the 80's. So, I think used is the way to go. She wants a Cayenne and it's the trade I have to make for my GT3 to exist. Regardless, I am interested in an 09 GTS and an 08 Turbo. If I am going to clean two P-cars per week (by hand of course), then at least I will have fun driving it as well! It seems the turbo has the backup camera that will help keep the dings to a minimum and it also has a number of other goodies along with the oomph of the engine. I may be headed that way.
