PCM 2.1 Screen Not Working

PCM 2.1 Screen Not Working
The LCD screen on my PCM 2.1 is not working anymore, just displaying a bunch of strange lines and colors. The radio still works. The car is a 2005 Cayenne Turbo.
The dealer wants $2000 to replace the whole unit. Is there a better way to deal with this than spend the money on 7 year old technology?
Also, if I want to replace it with the OEM unit is $2,000 a reasonable price?
