New (to me) 2008 Cayenne Turbo

Just took delivery of a 2008 Cayenne Turbo today. Been thinking about getting one for a while and finally pulled the trigger. The car is nice, has around 26,000 miles and so far I'm very happy with it.

However, there are some changes I would like to make so I'm hoping you guys can help me.

I've done a ton of searching but most of the threads I've found are 2+ years old so I wanted to get some updated information. I'm new to the Porsche world so please forgive my ignorance in a lot of these matters.

1. What is the consensus for lowering modules. I am unable to find any 9ff units online. The Renntech units seem to be cheaper and still highly recommended. The TechArt units are pretty expensive and from what I can tell may not be worth the price difference.

I'm looking to mainly lower the car when it is parked... not necessarily while driving.

What price should I be looking to pay and who are some good parts retailers to do business with?

2. Navigation Discs -- where can I get the latest disc? My whole town is off the map on the disc (I'm assuming it's a disc) that came with the vehicle. How much do these go for?

3. My car is a 2008 -- so what model designation would that make it? I see 955, 957, etc. thrown around.

Thanks in advance for your help for a newbie.

Q1: why do you need to lower it? Its just fine, no need to waste money on lower a parked Truck in my eyes, but if you do decide to RennTech and Techart are both good, but Techart is my choice, from using them in the past, i had a great experience, but als dont forget Gemballa as well, and if so your looking at $2500 to 3500 installed.....

Q2: you can get them online for 100 bucks, cheap.....

Q3: your car would be the 957 model from 2008-2010. my favorite years....
good luck and enjoy your new ride....

PS Now you have to post pics....

Thanks for the info. What should I be looking for as far as the disc. ie, where can I find the current revision so I don't buy an already outdated disc

I will get some pics posted up, the car was trailered down here in an open trailer and is very dirty. I'm waiting on someone to detail it properly as the dealership did a very poor job in cleaning it (even the interior).

Q1: my vote to TechArt. I m very happy with the result. Vehicle automatically switch to lowest level (loading level) when you park.

Q2: Try eBay

Q3: yours is 957 model. Same as mine.

Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated. I'll keep an eye out for a used TechArt one for sale because paying over $2k for that is hard to justify.

Just noticed the cover over my rear windshield wiper is missing... anyone know of a good site online to buy little parts like these, or a good dealer that offers a 6SO discount?

While you can get nav disks cheap on line - not current ones. I watched for several months, and the newest one that ever showed up on FleaBay was an 05/06 vintage one (same vintage that was in my P!G)..

Finally asked for them for my birthday - $299 from Suncoast, came complete with the disks to update the software on the PCM, and a lovely pleather case. The latest available are 2009 vintage.

They do that. Unfortunately, Porsche decided selling the covers for $3/each wasn't a profit center, so they decided to only sell the cover with the switch assembly for the rear glass.. I believe SunCoast has them for around $30. I glued my last one on (the plastic tabs on the cover are a joke.. one carwash and that puppy has left the building..)

Thanks for your help. I've contacted Suncoast today, and I ordered the switch assembly from a different source.

Thanks for all the help guys. Little by little I'm fixing the small things on this Cayenne that bug me and hopefully I'll start modifying it soon as well

Pics will be forthcoming as well as long as it doesn't rain today.

Hey Chorizo- congrats on your CTT.
Pick up a sprint booster - best $250 you can spend.
Go for the tech art module , it's pricey but well worth it. I've had mine for a few years and i love it . You should also look into an EVO ECU tune.

Cheers

Jeff,

I read the description of the Sprint Booster and it sounds like snake oil to be honest. I can't imagine that it would help when I could just mash the pedal down 25% more myself?

Where's a good place to get the TechArt lowering module from?

1. Buy yourself a Durametric tool. You can very easily lower your car using that, and you get all the other features of the Durametric tool to use. There is a thread on the process.

2. Buy a good tune. There are quite a few out there that are good. I have an EPL tune, which I am extremely happy with ... but they dont have one for your 957.

3. Buy cat bypass pipes. The mufflers sound amazing on a turbo with just this mod .. no need to get new exhaust.

PS sweet car!!

Car looks great!

I did cat bypass pipes and intakes and am very happy with the sound and performance increases. Will probably do a reflash eventually.

RE: the Sprint Booster, in sport mode the throttle is already about as touchy/aggressive as I could imagine.

Definitely. From a stop light in sport mode with PSM off it's hard to take off gently The car is a beast.

BTW, is it normal for these things to have super load power steering pumps. It almost sounds like it's going to go out... I assume it's the power steering pump it sure sounds like it but it's possible it's something else. Like a gear whine almost but all the time, notice it at idle and it increases with revs...
