A problem that dealer can't figure out, can you?
Guys,
My 09 Cayenne has a strange problem. I took it to Porsche Dealer twice already and the Mechs over there can't figure it out.
When take a road trip or more than 30 miles drive. The speaker in front of driver will start a high pitch whinning noise when the car go over a bump on road. And it wouldn't stop until I roll over the next 'lucky' bump.
The noise seems to get worst when mpr is higher, and it also pick up signals when key has been pulled or door has been open. The noise will not go away when I turn on/off the audio. If I turn of the engine and restart it after couple minutes the noise will come back too. But if I let the car sit for a while and noise will go away.
My 4 years old starts to make the same whinning noise whenever he get a chance. That makes everything worse.

Anyone has any idea how to fix this will be greatly appreciated.

does it have the door chime through the speakers? my c6 z06 vette has door chime module hooked up thru speakers and it makes a high pitched whining noise sometimes when the car is off and it will pick up interference from cell phones and such but never while driving
I don't know for sure.
That speaker is in front of driver, not the speak on the door.

I used to install stereos...typically if a speaker was doing that....it's a grounding issue. i.e., bad ground in the stereo or possibly that speaker is shorting out, OR it could be a main ground issue at the battery or cabling somewhere. Increasing with rpms is pretty common. It's basically noise from a bad ground. Good luck.
How do you find the bad groud and get this fixed?
I am out off luck at dealer twice already...

03EvoIII could be right and I have seem that before on early model sport cars while I was working at the dealer in the past.
Anyways, going through the proper channels that if a issue could not be resolve the dealer suppose to send a email to Porsche techline for assistance. Depending on your relationship with the service department, I would talk to the service manager about tracking this noise down and if that doesn't work you will need to contact 1-800-PORSCHE for assistance. Good luck and it looks like there are going to be some interior items are going to be coming off the car.

yea that's the thing with grounding issues...they could be hard to find
I would think the dealer would take care of it, if under warranty and if that means replacing the whole system..then so be it.
I'm pretty sure with all the fancy test equipment they have...they should be able to isolate the issue.
