09 GTS Advise ...

2009 Cayenne GTS
Hi there

I am thinking of replacing my GL450 with a Cayenne GTS - still a bit hesitant as I had one of the first Cayenne S in 2003 at had a ton of problems with that (to the point that Porsche paid me $15,000 compensation).

I found a 09 GTS at CarMax for $47k (http://www.carmax.com/enus/view-car/...b-b5c487b63bb0 ) - would love to have your guys thought on this?

What is your experience with reliability for 09 GTS?
What extras would you consider a must?
Any thoughts on the CarMax offer? $6000 below KBB sound pretty good, but is 58,000miles an issue?

Appreciate your help

dimf is infamous around these parts
I have an 09 GTS which had been rock solid so far. The only issue I had was CEL because of defective gas cap that the dealer refuse to admit to be defective and replace. After replacing it with an after market one, the CGTS has gone back to it's reliable self. It hardly burn any oil.

My favorite features are PDCC, 4 zone airconditioning, front and rear park assist, air suspension, panoramic roof and sports exhaust.

Do you know the msrp/sticker price of the vehicle offered by CarMax?

I don't - trying to find out what extras/options the car has, but as usually one gets the 'Cruise Control/PowerWindows/4WD" list which is pretty useless ...

I can tell by just looking at it that it doesn't have: park distance control, backup camera, pano roof (has regular sunroof), extended leather, PDCC, heated rear seats, 4-zone climate, etc. To me it looks like it's about as basic as a GTS can be. In fact, I'm not sure that vehicle has any options at all. Given that and the mileage, personally, I'd pass on this one. Hope this helps...

as it is an 09, you should at least make sure it has IPOD & bluetooth options. it is pretty stripped but then again. they had a lot of standard stuff. anyway it does have navi - that is good.

these gen 2 Cayennes seem to be amazingly reliable.

i believe that 58k miles means the warranty is over before the 4 year limit so i would get it checked by a dealor.

have you driven it - might put you over the edge though!

Never mind the options when buying a used car, rather make sure it's THE right car (body and mechanics are solid)! I look at the GTS as the sportiest Cayenne (a truck with a 911 chassi) and hence I don't mind one with little or no options, as real sportscars should be. My GTS looks like an identical twin to the one you are considering! : )

Obviously it's hard to be picky with options when buying used, but there were a few must have options for me when I bought my '08 GTS a couple of months ago - PDCC, extended leather, heated seats, nav, and at least one parking aid (such as park assist or camera - mine has park assist). In my case I was lucky enough to find one with a few other nice options as well such as heated rear seats, skid plates, aluminum-look mirror covers, comfort lighting, white gauges, and maybe a few more I can't remember. It's an '08 that I picked for $50K with 19K miles on it. Don't think it was an incredible deal, but at least fair. Love the truck though!
