Transmission Issue

Well my 05 CTT has been having this very random problem once in awhile. Sometimes when I come to a slow down or complete stop and start going again I notice the car is in Manual mode even though its still in the D position. I have to slap the stick over to Manual then back to Drive.

What gives?

You bumped a steering wheel button.

You can operate in manual mode using the steering wheel buttons without having to move the shift lever to manual mode. Then you either need to wait for it to reset to auto or move the lever to manual and back as you have been to put back in auto.

*facepalm*

I feel like a moron and also relieved. I thought it was the TCU messing up on me!

Thx you for educating me. Never knew that I could do that!

No worries. Easy mistake as many cars disable the steering wheel controls when not in manual mode.

Just saying that it is more common for the steering wheels controls to not work until you put it into manual mode.(other cars)

For example in my Audi S4 you can click the shift buttons all day long with no effect until you slide the shifter to manual mode. Then they light up and work.

lol, on Tuesday i was driving to Revelstoke and my car down shifted 2 gears WTF. After a moment it shifted back up into drive. I was thinking WTF, when I realized I must have bumped the steering wheel shifter with the bottom of the bottle.

I think it's very convenient to have this feature instead of putting a gear into a manual mode and change gears, especially on a highway.
