Hi All,
An older gentleman backed his G35 into my beloved Pepper tonight in a parking lot. To his credit, he came inside and asked if the owner of a Black Cadillac SUV (?!) was in the store. I peeked outside looking for a Black Cadillac SUV, but my Silver Cayenne GTS was the only SUV in the lot. Thinking he might have had a toddy earlier...that or cataracts.

Luckily, damage appears superficial...see attached pics. Mainly paint scraping with some slight bending of the plastic on the driver's side vertical grill surround. Anyone care to guess what repair method and cost might be (his insurance to pay). I'm hoping this won't require replacement of the entire bumper...this car is/was in perfect condition and I worry that no one would be able to bolt it back together as cleanly as the factory.

I plan to talk to my local dealer's preferred body shop tomorrow, but thought it would be helpful to get the forum's input.

It looks like there is a "dent" on the vertical grill stalk. If I were fixing it myself, I would repair that with urethane bumper repair and good polyester putty...but if I was going through insurance, I would demand a new bumper cover.

There is an estimate book (maybe online-haven't looked) that gives the amount of hours to remove and replace the bumper cover, prep, paint (and blending if necessary). And then there is a formula for materials and waste.

Without the cost of the bumper, I wouldn't be surprised if it was between $500-$1000 in labor and paint/repair materials.

Ouch, sorry to see that. If I were to guess, I would say around $600. The best of luck and just be glad it wasn't worse.

Well guys, total including tax is $1600. That includes rehabbing the current bumper cover...the only new parts will be the lower lip and tow hook cover.
I asked them to talk me through their painting process and feel pretty comfortable with that part of it. They spray the bumper separately, but only after test-painting a panel and taking it out in the sunlight to make sure it matches the fenders and hood.

I'm not crazy about their having to remove the bumper to fix such a minor blemish. This is at Roger Beasley Collision in Austin...an approved Porsche Body Repair facility. Anyone here have experience with them?

Wow.... I didn't see that coming !! Must have been a little more damage then I saw at first look. Hopefully someone else will chime in about using Roger Beasley.

I know. Damage is pretty minimal. Parts total is only $315. The rest is labor & paint!

Guys while we are on the topic of the front bumper, I too have a 2009 Turbo and was wondering how to get the front grills off? I have a rack in one of the horizontal bars and want to replace the entire grill? Does the bumper cover need to come off to replace? I also wouldnt mind cleaning out all the leaves that get through the grill.

I believe the bumper does have to come off to get to the grills. They're not having to replace mine, but need to remove them to repair the dented upright.

I just replaced the lower front spoiler on my '04 CTT. The bottom part of the bumper was cracked, this is the textured part on the bottom of the bumper (the same piece that the stainless steel skid plate would attache to).

Anyway, part was $300 and the paint job from the dealer was $200. Just as a point of reference. I did the install myself a week ago.

as far as the gills go, on the '04 the two intercooler grills just click into place and can be removed easily. The center piece is held in with double sided tape (on the top and bottom). An interior trim removal tool and some patience will get the center grill out without removing the bumper.

Update- My car sat untouched for 5 days while I drove a scratched up, smoke-scented Maroon Altima rental, but finally this past Monday they got to work and turned it around in two days. The repaint is fantastic and I am very pleased with the repair to the dented plastic. Here are a couple of poorly shot iPhone pics.

They did, although not without some hiccups. I guess that's just the world of collision repair!
