No, but if you got 9 qts to go in, it is doubtful that second drain plug buys you anything extra, in terms of getting more oil out.

the second drain plug is higher than the plug you pulled to change your oil.

If you have a V8 Cayenne--a CS or CTT--the pan has 2 oil sumps with a drain plug in each, both plugs look the same. My experiance with a 2006 CS if you put in the recommended 9 quarts of oil it will be slightly overfilled. I usually start with 8 quarts and add enough after running for a while to bring it up to the full mark.

Apologies for reviving this thread, but i just changed my oil out yesterday.
Both the lower and upper drain plugs were torqued so tight last time, i stripped them trying to get them out. Finally got the lower one out, and drained all the oil, but had to give up on the upper one because of the lack of clearance.

My question is, i only filled up 8qt + some in the filter housing, and the dipstick already reads above max. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm thinking this is possibly because i didn't drain out of the upper plug.

It was late last night when i finished, so will take her out for a spin today and recheck the level and see if it looks good.

You might want to look into getting new plugs for the next oil change. I forget where I got mine but the were about 6 bucks a piece and $15 S&H. How far above max was it?

Yeah, i used the ECS magnetic drain plug for the lower plug, and would have replaced the upper one too if i had managed to get it out.

I would say it was just past the ridge line that denotes the max cutoff.

If its right on the edge I wouldn't worry about it. But if its a decent ways past you might want to drain a little.

Yes, it has a o ring. My filter came with a new one. It took about 9qts plus about a 1/4 qt primed in the oil filter itself.
