Steering wheel replacement (with tiptronic)
How hard is it to replace steering wheel on CTT with tiptronic?
Wondering as I am getting some taste for getting a thick/sport wheel instead of the skinny hoola hoop we got from manufacturer.
Thanks.

I am not going for the Beverly Hillbillies effect here.
Wanted to know who actually took their steering wheel off, how hard it was, what to watch out for. Thinking of swapping for one of those thick eargonomic ones with flat bottom section.

Did you replace yourself?
If yes, how hard to do?
Read service manual where it says there are two tabs behind to release to remove the airbag, but wonder if there is anything else. It also states to discard and replace the multiple tooth screw(whatever that is).
Any help in better understanding the process will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

tabs is really hard enough to catch as you do it blind with thin flat screwdriver
toothed screw is one that holds wheel in place. tool to use is on photo. no reason to get it new one.

For the tabs, what do they look like and what am I going to try to do, just push them out, spread them open, anything else? Want to understand what I need to do since they are located on side of wheel that is away from the driver (guess called bottom side of wheel), preventing me from actually seeing what I am doing.
IF you can compare these tabs to other tabs on the car, so I can get idea on how they retain the airbag , would be awesome. Thanks again.

Thanks. I do not quite understand the reply with safety pin though. Wondered of I have to push out the springs from behind (pushing motion towards myself with a thin flat screwdriver?).
Or is it a prying motion where I stick a flat screwdriver into hole behind wheel and try to pry spring off to the side?
Thanks for clarifying what I have to do to remove the airbag. Take care.
