Cayenne Front Sway Bar Links Replacement - DIY

Part of my suspension refresh was replacing these.
Hope it helps the next person.

There are multiple ways to elevate the car. The ideas is to have front elevated so both wheels are even, and neither side is torqued due to being flexed.
So have the car off the ground however you need. Then have a mechanism to be able to maneuver lower control arm up/down, so you can remove the upper nut/bolt from the link and mount holes.
I opted to use 1 jack stand, lift jack on opposite side (to make sure both wheels are even off ground. Then used jack lift to adjust lower control arm to remove the long bolt, and reinstall new one.

Good luck. Follow these pictures in the order you see them, read all instructions and make sure you understand them. Then do the step.

Have fun.

Thanks for this! I'm going to tackle a suspension refresh soon, since i heard creaking from the front over the winter, and if it turns out this is it, this will prove to be invaluable!

If you are hearing creaking, it is likely your lower control arm bushings have cracked. That was the reason for my creaking, after removal, I saw the rear facing bushings on both control arms cracked.

The links and bushings though helped me restore the new suspension feel on the car.
I actually couldn't believe the difference it made in feel of car handling.
Replaced the sway bar bushings, sway bar links, tie rods, lower control arms.
Feels just like new now.

I will be posting DIYs for the other jobs soon...took all the pics and making DIY articles slowly.
In all planning to post DIYs:
- Sway bar bushings
- Sway bar links
- Tie rods
- Lower control arms

Front Lower Control Arm

Hey I've looked everywhere and can't find details on replacing the lower control arms on a 955 turbo. I actually have my right side off but I can't get the new one in to save my life. Any help would be appreciated.

To install new arm into the hole for CTT, you will have to slide the ball joint on new arm to one side, to facilitate insertion into the hole from the side closer to front of the car, away from passenger door - essentially ball joint is inserted on side of hole closer to front of car when under the car, between front wheels, facing passenger side wheel (when replacing the passenger control arm). For the driver side control arm, you will have to slide ball joint off to one side and maneuver it to insert into the hole on the side which is closer to the driver door, and away from front of the car (opposite of how you inserted the pass. side arm ball joint). Hoping this is making sense to you.

Basically hold control arm under car with ball joint in the hole. The ball joint is the first thing to be connected. Swivel and play with the arm so that the ball joint is fully inserted.
There is not a lot of play room here. You have to maneuver the ball joint to tilt it in a way that will facilitate the insertion.
I did find this to be trickiest part of he install without having to disassemble entire rotor/brake components. But it does fit.

Hope this is not too late for you yet. Didn't read your initial response fully.
