New Cayenne S, or CPO Cayenne Turbo?
New Cayenne S, or CPO Cayenne Turbo?
Well, I find out this week if I 'have' to buy an SUV for tax reasons, as my company was quite profitable this year, and a nice writeoff would do good.
If so, I've tossed around the CTT and CS idea many times over the last 5 months, but come December it may have to be a reality.
I'd prefer a sedan (550i was my top choice, still hopeful I can get that instead) but if I have to go gas-guzzling SUV, I might as well go with the best, and compliment my 05 Boxster S with another Porsche stablemate.
Anyway, I considered the X5 4.4 and 4.8, but some of the things I read seem to reflect that the vehicle is a bit long in the tooth already, and is due for some refreshing. The ride is apparently quite harsh, especially in the 4.8.
The ML500 is another choice, but I'm not too pleased with the looks - it appears to be too Cadillac to me. I will be getting rid of my E500, so I can attest that I am pleased with MB to some degree, just not sure I want to make a long term commitment to purchase one.
To writeoff an SUV now you take 5 years, and a 25k bonus depreciation the first year - of course we all know it has to be 6000lb gvw, which the CT and CS have in spades. A leased car gets me maybe 12k writeoff each year, totalling 48k over 4 years, this would be probably 70k over 5, and a big chunk the first year.
So, now to the point...
Should I go 2004 CPO CTT or new Cayenne S?? Both around the same price (70k) but my preference probably is for the CTT, only because it is loaded and really freakin' fast - probably the closest to a performance sedan of anything I am considering for the SUV's. CPO means 6 year/100k mile warranty also, which apparently is needed on these vehicles. CS new means I get to order it custom and put the miles I want to on it.
Thoughts?

RR Supercharged is about as fast as the CS, not the CTT. If I want just comfort and bling, I'd consider it, but I'd have to go new on the RR Supercharged as they haven't been out that long
Get the TT, I regret not getting a TT vs. the S, but I wasn't looking used and had orderd my S. I thought my wife was going to kill me if I spent 100k on another car, but suprisingly when I took delivery of the S, she asked me why we didn't get the turbo...
Oh well, I love my S and I'm not going to take a beating on the resale...
