quick question for interior

Anybody know whats under this panel? the grille has a black foam over it but I don't think its a speaker. Maybe something for rear AC? All of the others I see have a compartment here and I can't seem to find this style anywhere else. Click image for larger version

Its more than likely a subwoofer speaker. That would be the only reasoning for that grille being there.

I thought the same thing at first but then I found the sub with the spare tire. I tried to listen back there with music on and it doesn't seem to be working if it is in fact a speaker.

Do you have pictures of the sub with the spare tire? and the trim piece on top/around the sub? There could be a port that dumps through that grille. That or its a speaker that stopped working.

I was able to pull off the grille and saw part of a huge plastic part. It had a part number on it so I looked it up. Turns out it is an hvac system.

It's a vent for the rear AC. So you must have 4 zone climate? It's also why you aren't supposed to use the plastic cargo bay liner but mine came with one so I occasionally use it.

The sub in the spare wheel well is a one piece self contained unit.

Yes its a 4 zone climate. Im a little bummed that I don't have the storage there but at the same time happy I have the rear climate controls.
