957 Panos Issue

Went through a touchless car wash today and noticed a preponderance of water on the topside of my sunshade immediately thereafter. Never had a problem before (including being left out in the rain for the prior 48 hours with no leak), so I think it may have been from the high-speed fans that dry the cars at this facility.

In any case, I went to see what the issue was and the system opened fine but then would not close. It moved very slowly to close at first, then gave up altogether.

Any playing with the control **** yielded no change, it just stopped responding. Restarted the car and it tried to respond again, but still couldn't move towards closed position.

Eventually after playing with it for a while it did close (all the while still not really responding correctly to my inputs), and I noticed the middle panel did not go back up all the way to be flush with the other two, one side of it remained down a bit.

Any ideas on what could cause something like this aside from the obvious car wash. Meaning, is there something specific I can try to fix myself before taking it to a shop?

Hate to say it - but brace yourself for large $$$. If you can possibly get it to close so it's sealed up correctly, I'd then remove the fuse for it so it's never opened again. The 955/957 pano roof is pretty much notorious for problems like this and the usual dealer fix is a new sunroof "cartridge" (the entire works..) which likely costs about what your Cayenne is worth.

It's the reason the 958 has a much simpler Pano roof - with only the front panel opening..

Yeah, that's not totally unexpected, but still very disappointing. Took it to a shop today for diagnosis, no word back yet. Sadly, this particular 957 is pretty valuable compared to the rest, so I will fix it the right way instead of leaving it inoperable. Hope to get out of there for less than a couple Grand, by that may be wishful thinking.
