Tire wear on CTT?

My 06 CTT has 7800 miles and my Michelin Damaris (275 40 20) are almost ready to be replaced. Is this normal wear??

Unfortunately yes. Mine lasted about that long as well and that was with 2 rotations.

It sure seems normal from alot of people's posts here and on rennlist.com, but also there are some that get triple the wear that you have gotten. With mine it has been closer to 18K on 18's. I have 22's now with BF KDW/2's and show no wear to speak of for 3500K. Not sure how long these will last.
And yes I drive like it is stolen -ALL the time .

from what i understand, this is common with people that ride around with the air suspension on the lowest setting, be sure to avoid that and you'll save tire life...also monitor your tire pressure of course

on a side note, i think those tires are close to $400 each

Check your warranty though, and if see if you can get your next set pro-rated. That might be regular wear, but if they guarantee more, at $500/tire, you might as well take advantage of it.

That is interesting. I hadnt heard that about the suspension setting. Care to share your sources?
Also, the Michelins are $314 ea. from tirerack. There are alternatives though that are cheaper.

Im not sure if you were asking me for my sources, but there are 6 levels you can adjust the air suspension to. The lowest mode (loading mode) can only be used to load the vehicle when parked, and up to speeds less than 3mph. The next lowest setting is (special loading mode) which you can drive around in up to over 100mph, this setting improves vehicle handling. Chances are you aren't driving around with the suspension in the low settings, because you have to physically put it in low mode. Anyways, the camber gets more negative, and obviously when you're driving around like that, the tires wear faster.

However, i dont think that is your problem. I just remembered the other day we had a cayenne come in and i believe it was an 06 with the same tires, and they were pretty worn out as well. Like mlopat said, talk with your dealership about it, they might certainly be able to get you some sort of deal on the next set, because there is no way those tires should wear out before the 10k mark. Good luck.

My wife got 6800 out of her Diamaris. I put Rossos on because thats all that was available that was acceptable. She has put 17k on them with a litte left to go. Traction was just as good wet and dry. She drives like a maniac.

Ross: I drive with mine in the second to lowest mode pretty much all the time. I am not noticing my tires cupping really that bad, they are just worn. The car still handles well but rides like a bronco in sport mode where it used to be fairly tolerable when they were brand new. I spend alot of my time doing short distance city driving which tends to make me want to hear the exhaust and feel the boost so my foot is in it alot. I also drive with PSM turned off almost always. I think the combination leads to excessive tire wear. This truck is just heavy as **** and rollin on 20's doesnt help.
