Angry 20k service and brake service? Dealer costs?

Just curious, What did you guys spend on your 20k service and brake service?
Do I really have to do the brakes and rotors? I just bought my vehicle two months ago and now they are saying I need all of these services. Total cost of $~1700 bucks w/ only replacing front pads/rotors?
Just looking to see what everyone else does? I have no problem with the service buy i am a little irritated with the timing. I might just go and get my self another rover or bimmer..at least you get your warranty work covered, jeez..

as i said on other thread, i had to change all pads and rotors on my x5...twice.
it seems little higher than bmw...now became a garage queen

maybe time to upgrade your brake with after market?
sorry couldn't help you...

That sounds about right. I spent $1600 on mine with replacing the front pads/rotors, oil change, and they did some warranty work and TSB's. Its definitely pricey especially when you get the hit at you 2 month ownership interval. I got rid of mine for this reason, loved to drive the thing but the service and warranty sucked for my lifestyle.

At 20k my rotors were at 60% and my pads at a constantly squeaking 40%. They wanted about 300$ to change the pads and spin the rotors under warranty. I would never pay 1700 to change my rotors and pads... go aftermarket... I don't have any experience with aftermarket though.
It's pretty weird that a vehicle of this caliber dosen't have the breaks to make it go at least 40k....
Or at least warranty the service.
My ML500 got it's rotors replaced with the pads under warranty at 40k.
My old 02 accord got the pads and rotors replaced at 45k!
It's ridiculous that at about 15k my breaks were already sqeaking ALL OF THE TIME.... I really got ashamed of breaking at some stop signs when there were nice girls!
grrr

20k and you need new pads? Do you drive stop and go traffic a lot? That's very short life for pads. Pads have wear indicators. So, you'll know when the pads are worn. You can change it earlier if you know pads are really worn. If you don't trust your dealer, get a second opinion or just wait until indicator comes on. The only downside is another dealer visit when that happens.

I don't believe in changing rotors or even turning them if it's the first pad change and rotors are not burnt, warped or scraped. A dial caliper measurer can tell you if the rotors are warped, within thickness. Changing rotors are a waste of money if there is nothing wrong with them. They are BIG money for dealers though.

As for 20K service, expect $400-500. Shop around prices at different dealers.

One other thing to note that, depending on production dates, early Cayenne's had VERY soft brake pad and rotor compound, and were all being replaced at ~20K services. These have since been updated to a much harder compound lasting significantly longer, which is why some are toast at 20K and others are good till 40K or better.Just a heads up, that the pad/rotor life issue has been addressed.

When my cousin got his Cayenne serviced for 15K miles, he paid $7500. Im guessing he got everything tho from that price, also not 20K service.

Just got done

Had two 22 michelins replaced..for 1100...
the rest was 1800 for 20k service and replaced pads/rotors ran me 1800..
i'm just a little upset that I bought this vehicle two months ago. Paid 67k for 16k miles on an 04 turbo with carbon interior and black out kit..and sport techno's... no certified warranty either...not a bad deal considering the window sticker was 104k..but stil, it hurts to have this hit right after i bought it. I'm seriously thinking about going back to land rover or bmw...Maintenence is really an important part of the 'service' aspect of purchasing a vehicle...
Got my s550's oil changed free of charge last week and have already received 2 calls from customer service asking if the service was ok...now that's service..maybe i should get the ML63? I bought this vehicle as a compromise between a sports car and a truck...guess I should just get both..

Damn.. i gotta say, spending 3600 for brakes and service just two months after purchase is insane. I am going to SERIOUSLY reconsider my C purchase!

2 - 22 mich cost you $1100??? OMG! who robbed you?
Anyway sorry to hear that.

I never had to gone in for service except adding after market parts at dealer.
They charged regular labor hours and I was fine with that.
However, I get few phone calls from BMW whenever you go in for service and I don't really like that...irratates me...and so fake...
I hope Porsche doesn't give me a call like BMW or MERC...cause if I don't like their service I would scream at tech adv. or techs than poor customer service reps.

Anyway, what can you do now? As long as they do PROPER job...should be happy unless you can do it yourself or find a goood garage.(which I found one yesterday )
BTW, enjoy your carZ...S550 must ride like a living room

Don't take it to the dealer. Find a aftermarket shop that specializes in P-car's.
