So i am going to get a Cayenne after my issue with my turbo s cab.. I am more so set on the S then the Turbo S... as honesty I dont need some fast turbo SUV in LA...
My question is this... what options do you guys think are worth and arent worth it... for instance the 4 zone climate control... and so fourth... Also is the off road package worth it... as i might take her mud running one day... thanks
Also do they make a supercharger for the S... As i figure a V8 with a Supercharger is better than a Twin turbo... are the internals on the V8 and the V8 turbo the same...other than pistons of course...

I just bought a CPO'ed 2005 Cayenne Turbo. The one thing I like about the Turbo is I don't have to put up with all the Porsche options BS. It comes with all the high demand options like Nav, adjustable suspension, nice wheels and a better appointed interior. The car is nice and my wife loves it, a little too much I would say.
I am a huge proponent of the CPO program and for a Cayenne which in the end of the day, is just an SUV, it makes the most sense.
I have the warm weather option, which inlcludes the 4 zone air con and the insulated glass. In NYC, I REALLY like the glass, as I can close the door and I don't have to hear the noise of friday afternoon traffic.
I think it will be next to impossible to find a Cayenne with the off road package on the lot. You will need to order this, and I don't think their doing orders right now. You can have your dealer do a system search, but if you want the offroad package, you are going to have a VERY limited selection, if any.
Yeah sorry didnt know what CPO was... I was thinking thats what it ment wasnt sure.. How much do you think a loaded Turbo should go for.. Mileage i dont really care about as i will for sure be making it a tow pig... the question is do i get a cayenne S or Turbo... new or used... Is the Off Road package worth it though..

If you don't care about mileage, than look for one in the 20k mileage range. Valuation is VERY sensitive to mileage. Also, make sure you get an 05' or younger. The earlier models had their gremlins and they also had a CD (vs.dvd) based nav system. If your trailing, then you REALLY want the adjustable suspension, which is an option on the S and can be hard to find. Also, what are you towing?
NOW you are going to learn a little dark secret about the Cayenne and its "towing" issues.
First, the factory tow option is about $860 in parts and if the dealer installs, $1,000+ in labor. You want to go factory as it looks better and is a fully integrated class 3 hitch. This does NOT include an electric brake controller. Further, you need to be mindful of what your going to tow. Now, this is going to sound stupid, so hang on... You need to know how many lights are on your trailer and more important, if the lights are LED lights. You see, some over trained engineer at Porsche decided that you are only allowed a certain # of lights, so when you use LED, it counts each LED as a separate light. If you have a covered trailer, you might have to either disconnect the lights or reconsider, especially if they are LED lights. If you have an open trailer, you should be OK.
Ok, so if your still interested, then I would say that $84k is too much. Maybe not for an 06'. Remember, these prices really move. Look at the 05' CTT at South Shore (NY) Porsche with 5k miles on it, listed at $79k. The guy offered the car to me at $73k, and I think I could have done better. The only reason I didn't buy it is I will never support a place that has a sales manager like they currently employ, guy should be on a Kia floor. Well that and the fact that I got one for about $10k less....
If you go to P of Princeton, I highly recommend Ed Slouthus, top notch guy. Bought my 996 from him.

I working in the corporate finance side of a very large lux goods retailers right out of college, and on occasion when we were opening stores I would have to be on the floor with exec managment for the opening events. Anyway, I know what salespeople must endure from people who think they walk on water, as they wave around their Black cards around. So please don't take this as an attack on South Shore Porsche.
