CTT vs JeepSRT8

What is the take on this? We are looking at both and the Jeep looks like a good bang for the buck..

I am a fan of the CTT and the looks are good, but I have to think some of you have driven both and have a bit more info.

I think that the best thing you can do is drive them both. After that you will see which you like the most. However, im sure that on the long run the Cayenne is gonna be much more fun and excite you the most. Also, there is a reason that Porsche is more expensive and you will definately feel that premium even when you are not driving the car!!!

If you can afford the Cayenne then i highly recommend it vs. the Jeep!

The Jeep is cheap and kinda hurtin' on the inside (but its price reflects this).
Depends what you want out of your truck and what you are getting one for.

The SRT-8 is not an off-roader at all, the Cayenne Turbo or Turbo S IS.
The Cayenne can tow - the Jeep can't
The ride is smoother in the Cayenne because of air suspension and allows for adjustments.
The status, if that matters at all, of the Porsche is untouchable compared to that of the Jeep.
The Cayenne Turbo or Turbo S s way better looking all around.

Just my $.02

Kooser's got it right, I've driven both quite a bit. I would add that the Cayenne has better handling. The price difference is large, so it's up to you as to what you need/want.

have had 4 cayenne turbos, and now own an SRT8 Jeep.

like comparing apples to oranges. Its all in what you want.

Personally, I think the Jeep is 50x more fun to drive. Obviously not as nice, but a lot more fun. Its a big block, so if you like torque, you will love it. It would annhilate a Cayenne TT or TTS from a dead stop. On the highway, its a toss up.

and BTW kooser, the SRT8 can tow, the previous owner did with mine.

lastly, my SRT8 GC is Black with all black trim and flat black wheels, and I get a lot more compliments and looks in this than I did in any of my Cayenne Turbos, and they were all modded(black w/ 22's, silver w/ 21's, black w/ black 20's, jarama 20's)

so, iif you want sinister, get the SRT8, if ya want comfort and luxury, get the CTT

I suppose it is possible; however, as an FYI the following is taken from the Jeep.com site:

SRT8 4X4

Towing Capacity - Maximum (When Properly Equipped) [lb]Not Recommended Towing Capacity - Standard [lb]Not Recommended

Your truck sounds pretty cool with the black/black trim/matte black wheels. Post some pix when you get a chance.

Dude annihilate is way misrepresenting. And 50x is inconceivable (like way more than 5x or 10x .
I am pretty confident that with the mods that I have done to my CTT (not even CTTS) that it would be dead even or I would be up a nose in the 1/4.
The SRT-8 basucally still looks like any other Grand Cherokee with 20" rims and a centered dual exhaust.
Don't get me wrong - I really like the looks of the car, admire its power and handling for that matter, and it would be fun to have this ride and also a new Wrangler for summer fun too - all for the same price as a new tequipment loaded CTT.
I too get countless compliments and also ridiculous ones like "is that a show car or is that your driving car" on my CTT so I am not buying what you said cutting the CTT's appearance.

Peace

I wouldn't go with the Jeep unless money is a huge factor. If you want bang for the buck, but still want to have a great all around vehicle, go with the ML63 Amg. If you want the ultimate SUV get the Cayenne.

yes, 50x is an exaggeration, butit is just my opinion.

My Cayennes were modded about as much as possible without turbo swaps, so I am very familiar with them modded. The Jeep,in my opinion, would put a hurting on my old modded 530+ HP Cayenne in a 1/4 mile. Yes, on the highway, the cayenne would probably inch, but not down low.

As far as a TTS, I had the option to buy, and passed on it. It didnt seem as fast as my modded 05, so I couldnt do it.

As far as towing goes, I never said it was the perfect SUV for it, just said it could be done

My SRT8 looks NOTHING like a normal grand cherokee, as 90% of people have no clue what it is, therefore asking. I never said the Cayenne was an ugly machine, I had countless amounts of compliments on mine, including one which I took to a bunch of shows, but once again, the SRT8 still gets more looks. Maybe just mine because it looks like Darth Vader, I dont know.

heres a couple of old CTT's

And, I had an ML63 as well, and that vehicle is also extremely amazing.

How did you fit a tow hitch on the SRT8? The exhaust is in the center.

I love my Jeep to bits. will be testing it to 150mph from a roll with a friend's CTT next week. will post videos.

in the meantime, here are a few vids of the Jeep:

following a Murcielago:

on the highway:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9QmcxSFSww

on the highway again:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7AGbozuPVs

its a lot smaller than the CTT, so if you're driving around town, especially with lots of traffic, its easier to maneuver.

cost no object, i'd go for a CTT obviously. but for 1/2 the price of a CTT, the SRT delivers big in the fun factor department.
