Given the discounts dealers are giving on the last of the '06s, the Alpha and Beta models ('03, '04) will take a particularly hard hit. It's all a matter of economics. No need to get worked up about it.
When I buy a car, I expect to lose most of the money on it eventually. I also expect to own it for quite a while. If you can't hold the impulse to change your car every few years, then perhaps you should consider leasing.
