Anyone notice that with it off, it turns the Cayenne into a monster. 1st gear starts, changes gears at a higher rpm, downshifts quicker and stays in a lower gear compared to when its on.
To bad there wasn't a way to keep it like this while it was PSM is on.

i had the same thoughts w/ u. my CTT always starts in 2nd gear unless i manually shift. but w/o PSM it starts in 1st gear and just hauls ***. i don't know why Porsche would have a 450 hp suv starting always in 2nd gear.

they should do what my Mercedes does, have a sport (starts in 1st gear) and comfort/winter (starts in 2nd gear) mode.

Mine still starts on 2nd with PSM off. 2004 CS. It's weird that everyone has different experiences.

Maybe they were thinking that the starting in 2nd gear thingwould be smoother and more appealing, and if not you could always downshift or turn off the PSM instead.

There should be a sport button you can press that will allow psm on and still act like this.

Yup, I know who that feels coming from a 06 Cayenne S with a Ecu upgrade, BMC filters and a Full Fabspeed exhaust that consist of Mufflers and Catbypass pipes. PSM OFF gives the CS a better launch especially from Zero, I raced a SL500; I always killed it from 0-150kmh with the upgrades!

So, what are the down sides to turning the PSM off as long as you aren't cornering?

Fuel consumption would be greater I am guessing..
Is it bad for the Cayenne?

I never tried it with the PSM off, damn does it make a difference.. NICE TIP!

down sides are fuel consumption and tire consumption.
unless you are in winter ice conditions there isn't a need for psm.

Got my CTT Sat, turned of the PSM for the first time tonight and WOW what a difference!

So, there is no harm in turning off PSM except for the annoying light that stay on.

I am going to chip and delete 2 cats soon.

I also like to lower the air springs. The only problem is that the car keeps returning to normal height. Any solution?
