Airbag Fault

Anybody else get this message? Is it a quick fix or an all day deal? I hate to go back to the dealer again, 270 miles one way. Second time since I got the car in January. First time tcm had to be replaced. Hope I don't have a problem car. My wife's X3 was in the shop 4 times in 6 months for CEL. Finally traded it back to them for the X5 and no problems in 16 months.

On our 05 it was a quick fix......The plug on the drivers seat for the side air bag was loose. The service tech said this was an on going problem with the Cayennes and they just needed to hard wire the air bag wires per a service bulletin from Porsche.
The air bag light came on when I was driving and re-adjusted the seat.
Good Luck

Incase anybody cares......
We got another air bag fault Friday night. Took it to the dealer this morning and they have to replace the two front airbags.....Not a quick fix this time.

They said the sensor on the passenger seat had to be reset. Blamed it on having my briefcase and laptop on there. Something about being set too sensitive. Didn't make sense to me. I was just glad it was fixed. Now we will see what they come up with this time. It's killing me because the dealer is 270 miles away.

270 miles that does suck but at least you are driving a Porsche

I guess we are lucky here in So Cal I have 7 dealers within 25 miles of my house. With afternoon traffic some could take up to 2 hours to get to......

Ah yes, rural living vs city living. Out here 2 hours gets you at least 160 miles.

Actually they are not my closest dealer, that would be 200 miles. They just gave me the best deal.

Yea city driving traffic does suck and is only getting worse......Two weeks ago it took us just under 7 hours to go 255 miles on a rainy Friday night.... (That includes the 1 hour to stop and feed the kids they are so needy..... )
Good luck with your pesty airbag problem and let me know what happens the second time.
