2011 Cayenne Turbo with 21" Turbo II Wheels on Snow
Just drove wife to the hospital in her new Cayenne Hybrid with 21 inch SportEdition wheels. No unusual problems driving in mostly ice (We do not have any snow plows nor salt trucks in Atlanta). I could not however go up my neighbors driveway which was completely iced up.
The Turbo II wheels typically come wrapped with summer tires. If this is the case I advise getting a set of snow tires/wheels 19". Good luck
The secret in snow is the narrower the tire the better. And of course winter tires that actually stay soft in the cold weather. Unfortunately, it’s tough to find a narrow winter tire that will fit 21” wheels. That’s why most people downsize to 18 or 19 inch wheels. I run 22” in the summer and my factor 20” in the winter on my ’06 CTTS. Last year I found a bit narrower 265 Blizzak that I run now. Seem to do OK. I’ve ordered a 2011 Turbo with the 21” wheels. Car won’t be in until March so I think I’m OK this year. But next winter I will be looking for winter tires. Summer tires are 295/35x21. I’m going to see if I can find 265/40x21 or 275/40x21. Won’t be perfect but beats buying another set of wheels. Besides 19’s would look like crap on that car.
Summer tires are on the 21's and just arent made for snow. Soft compound and not the right tread, regardless of the more than capable all wheel drive system or the size of the wheel. I had 20's with summer tires on my Cayenne S which I then replaced with 22's with all season rubber which worked well in the snow but was an oxymoron in itself (2o's with summer and 22's with winter) and +1 to Wheels.. the narrower the tire the better in the snow

A separate 18 inch wheel/tire set up is ideal. This will also protect your summer OEM wheels from all that nasty stuff it picks up from the roads during the winter. I rarely wash my wheels during the winter months as it's freezing cold.

I'd go smaller if I were you, but 21" Pirellis will get the job done. Problem is, they are gone for the season at this point.

My only advice I have...slap some snow tires on her a.s.a.p...and look forward to the spring for the 21" look - although the 20" OZ rims on Pirelli Ice & Snows I got from Tire Rack look pretty decent...
Snow tires & rims are needed depending on how much you plan to drive on the snow. Its something you have to decide. If you are not going skiing or driving a lot on snow covered roads, you should be fine with the regular tires ....
I have used winter sets on my older CTT and they are hands down the best and well worth the price you pay for them.....
For my new CTT I am not buying a winter set as I bought one for my X6...so when it snows I just drive the X6
