First road trip
Just took my first 500 mile road trip up into the Sierra. Was hoping to try out the cayenne in some snow but not much has fallen in the past month so the roads were dry. (at least they were making snow on the slopes so the trip was not wasted.). Whole family loved the ride. Very comfortable, seats were great, heated steering wheel was perfect for 0 degree mornings. V6 was plenty powerful, even accelerating uphill on mountain roads. Sailing along at 80mph was a joy and even on twisty roads the car was always in control. Averaged 23 mpg on the way up and 29mpg on the way home (uphill v. Downhill). Can't wait to see it in the snow!
Only downsides were relatively small cargo area and our dog. Our luggage fit in the rear but I had to remove the cargo cover to make it work. It is supposedly slightly larger - according to specs- than my X5 but the same luggage fits easily with the cargo cover on in the X5. The dog was a problem because he insisted on sitting in the front seat and kept wanting to lay on the center console. Way too many buttons for the pooch to press and I didn't want him to turn on hill control at 80mph!
