Sports Exhaust on Turbo

Hoping someone can help.

Have recently picked up my CTT, having read the manual and previously owned a 911 (non Turbo) with Sports exhaust, I was under the impression that Exhaust Tuning (sound) alters when engaged? Although the driving dynamics do change, the sound doesn't change?

I asked my dealer and they said it doesn't do that on the CT, the sound remains unchanged. Can anyone confirm please

Thanks

Greetings from the other side of the pond
I am not sure I understand your question,:are you referring to the exhaust sound when 'sport mode' is engaged or the sound of various after-market exhausts(Fabspeed,Techart,Tubi...)
I agree that, from the start, I found the exhaust note on my 2011CT a little too muted with no noticeable change when sport button pressed..which is why I had a Tubi exhaust installed(total about 3K$)
Along with the BMC air filters,my CT breathes much better and the exhaust note is now a deep rumblish growl

Sorry I meant to state thats it's the standard Porsche Sport Mode not after market.

I used to always have this option on my 911's and loved the sound (boys will be boys!) but not on my last Cayenne. WHen I got it this and pressed it, I was really disappointed with the sound. My ears aren't that old but I can't hear any difference.

If that's the case I may need to look into after market as I like the sound of what you have done to yours!

PS OT but I uploaded some pics of the Aston in the other thread for you. I'll get some better ones in online garage soon

Thanks for the greeting and love your black CT!

my exhaust note doesn't change on my new CTT when I press the sport button, like it does when I press that same button on my 2008 GTS.
driving dynamics, yes, exhaust note, no.

I think you're referring to the 911 Sport Exhaust option. That is merely an audible option and doesn't really have anything to do with performance. There is also a Sport mode and Sport Plus mode on the 911 that IS related to performance but they are separate things from the Sport Exhaust option. The CTT, to my knowledge, does not have this option and in my CTT, when pressing Sport mode, it doesn't change the note of the exhaust. You simply get full power and quicker response when you hit the accelerator.

Engaging sport mode on a Cayenne will only change the exhaust note if your Cayenne is also equipped with the Porsche sport exhaust. Things might be different in the UK but here in the States you can't order a 958 Turbo with the Porsche sport exhaust. I don't know why (and that might not be totally true now that the "powerkit" option is available) but perhaps that's also true in the UK and you don't actually have the PSE option on your rig.

Going to trade my PTT for a CTT. Should I get the GTS instead for a more engaging ride?

this is such a personal question.
I had a GTS sold it to get the CTT, could be happier.
Felt the GTS was a bit lagging, always had to keep it in a gear or two lower to keep the rev, and torque.

go for the new turbo S, and I think you will find the match made in heaven.

Jace is probably right althought I'd hold off a bit since Porsche has put a stop sale on all Panamera Turbo S and Cayenne Turbo's with the powerkit due to a fire risk.

The Sport Exhaust option for the Cayenne is not available on the Turbo. They currently produce it for the Cayenne and the Cayenne S. I assume it will be standard on the GTS.

The option only plays with the exhaust sound and can even be noticed when pressing the sport button while parked.

I have asked dealers everywhere from the US, UK and Saudi Arabia. It is not available for the Turbo and can not be retrofitted using the Cayenne S exhaust either.

I also settled for the Tubi exhaust in the end and got a great deal through Alex at Sharkwerks.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Well just to confirm that the Porsche have confirmed that the above is correct. The sports button only changes the driving dynamics and not the sound on the Turbo. Oh well, looks like its aftermarket solution for me.

I have had my Tubi exhaust for a few months and am very happy with it
My CT now breathes better and starts with what sounds to me like a deep growl and bark
Much more noticeable
Even at low revs, without giving it much gas and being gentle...the exhaust sound oozes power
To give you an idea,I'd be happy to make a little video of starting up and driving away if you want...
