Unused switch positions

Just wondering if anyone has utilized the two spaces on the switch panel (lower right side) that are unused for some auxiliary use? I checked the manual and see that they are used for windshield heating and parking heating--something I didn't need in Florida. I was thinking of using for radar detector or a wifi hotspot? I also wonder where one can buy the switches to use there?

Cool idea. But I cannot be of any help, unfortunately.

Is? you mean it came that way or you converted top right to something for hybrid? If the latter, where did you get the switch? On my car, they are empty so I thought I'd buy the switches and use them for something auxiliary.

When the buttons are functional they depress, SO my thought would be you should be able to make I so it looked blank, but actually toggled like the others ie, sport.
I haven't modded anything except for adding the radar with conceal display in cig compartment.

Sounds like a good idea, you can probably buy the windshield toggle button, replace wiring beneath, and place a small black electrical tape over to conceal like I did on the airbag upper light button.

My car just has blank (non-depressing) covers in those two switch locations and I imagine there is no wiring underneath either to those locations. The thought is to buy the switches to put in there and even if they have the wrong "logo" on the cover of the switch (like a windshield heating logo), I could wire up whatever I wanted to the switches. I'm thinking radar and a wifi hotspot.

Do you have a picture of your radar display? Sound interesting. How do you turn it on?

The E-power button on the hybrid is where the stop start button is located on the gas powered. Top Center

My CS is going into my installer for a laser interceptor set up, and hardware my escort 9500 ix. Im going to find out if he can put the mute button under the top right blank. I have the heated windshield so it the only blank I have. I'll let you know if it's feasible.

sounds good if he can use the porsche switch and especially if there is some flexibility with the marking on the switch. that's exactly the kind of thing I want to be able to do.

No go on using the blank space. The circuit board that controls the buttons on switch panel covers the entire backside of the panel. There is no room under the blanks to make those unused areas functioning buttons for something else

I contacted Sunset Imports in Oregon. The switch assembly is all 6 switches and one connector and about $84 from Sunset. I'd have to figure out how to wire the unused connections if I go that way. The logos on the switches are not configurable and they are molded together. There are about 10 different part numbers, depending on which switches are included. (Seems like it would be simpler to make each switch independent although assembly time would be more.)

So if you get the switch that has the fully populated 6 switches, while there is only one connector, it's likely you can find the pins on the connector of the unused switches and utilize them. Haven't gone beyond this point of conjecture.

Good luck with it. Let us know if you come up with something. For me it wasn't worth paying my installer $80/hr to figure it out. My mute switch was nicely installed opposite of the lighter in the cup holder assembly.
