Cayenne Hybrid Impressions?
Cayenne Hybrid Impressions?
Hello all, I have owned two Cayennes, my most recent being a CTTS. I love the platform and it is a great daily driver/ tow vehicle combo for Colorado. However my gas mileage is horrible and I drive for a living.
I test drove a 2011 Cayenne Hybrid - is that CH now? And I love it. Peppy enough it gets out of its own way and playing the use the battery only game is fun.
Is there anything I should be concerned with going to the CH model? They seem to be fairly priced in the mid to high 60s? Any feedback is appreciated...

I had a Panamera Hybrid as loaner
Spent some time driving around my country club and can confirm that playing the 'battery only' game is fun
too bad that the whirr of the elctric motor prevents the experience from being 100% silent..Pretty cool watching the the charging process and power being sent to the batteries on the PCM..though in all honesty I have a feeling the novelty would wear off pretty soon..
You have a fine stable of rides..I find Ducatis some the hottest looking bikes around...which brings me to think that you will be NOT be satisfied by the lack of power and be quickly left wanting for more..
Just my 2c

I wonder about the lack of power too. I test drove the Cayenne Diesel first and that was a definitely no. But considering I drive 30k miles a year, seeing 28 mpg instead of 16.8 seems like a pretty great compromise. And if I want power, I can hop in the 911 or the Ducati... Right now I treat my CTTS as a daily driver only and do not mod it (besides the blue tooth and satellite radio additions which would come standard in the CH).
Just curious as to why the Diesel is a definite no for you (full disclosure, I just picked my diesel 3 weeks ago and love it). I have not driven the hybrid or the S, but others on this and other forums that have say the diesel compares favourably in terms of torque and low end power. It also gets better mileage than the hybrid.
When test driving the diesel I found it has almost zero power passing on the interstate. It felt great around town, but 95% of my driving is on the interstate and I do about 30k miles a year. The Cayenne S Hybrid had more power here... it was still no Turbo S of course but it could move.
Fair enough. My driving is mostly around town and on trafffic filled highways, so it works very well for me. Also, Canadian speed limits on highways make a ton of power for passing a nice to have, but I find the diesel to have plenty for my purposes. I guess that's the beauty of having all these different Cayenne options - different strokes...
Good luck with your decision.

Thanks, coming from the Turbo S there are certain options I just want on the S Hybrid.... and the combination seems to be very difficult to find. I imagine it will be a few months before a 2011 shows up that meets my criteria.
