My Turbo stinks!

Well not the car, I love it but I've started to get a rotten egg smell come from the air vents. COuld be a coincidence but had to have a couple of the air vents replaced by my dealer a few weeks ago so not sure if that would have damaged anything?

From memory don't these things have some kind of filter or pollen filter that needs replacing from time to time (I'm sure they would have picked that up at last service?)

Anyone able to confirm what this could be?

Are you using Costco gas? :-) Try switching it to see what happens. If it still smells, I'd check out your catalytic converters.

Not sure about the joke, but is there a problem with Costo gas? I was seriously considering trying it next time I went....

i occasionally get this problem when I turn the compressor on for the 1st 10 seconds, then it goes away.
I am thinking it's just from sitting, after running compressor night before.
Could be a filter though...

I get the same kind of smell after I go full throttle redlining at least 1 gear. I took it to the dealer and they told me that it is a problem they have faced and talked to Porsche however there is no solution out yet. I have been waiting for over 8 months.

Thanks for your responses guys. I think I'll book in with the dealer and get to the bottom of it.

My previous Mercedes developed an odor problem after starting the AC too. Some spray was used to get rid of it but don't know how it was fixed.

OK so I contacted Porsche Middle East a week ago and they only got back to me yesterday about this.

They mentioned that Porsche Germany is aware about this issue but do not have a time frame as to when they might find a solution to it as "it is a concern but not a problem with the car".

The gentleman also mentioned that the cause of the problem could be when driving the car under maximum conditions that AC compressor switches off automatically in focus all of the energy supply to the cooling system and that automatically opens the vents to allow outside air to come into the car. He also tried to pass it on as a normal situation and mentioned that it was written on page 6 in the manual.

He said that the cause of the bad smell is due to the high Sulfur content of gas in Saudi Arabia and tried to pass it on as something that is not their fault.

I expressed my disappointment and asked for a timeline with a solution as this is a major problem for me that does not allow me to enjoy my cars full potential. Also, if it is a known issue that is due to the gas in a specific region then they should either modify their product to suit the regions conditions or disclose this kind of information when selling the car.

I think this is unacceptable and I do believe a lot of it is BS because if it is the Sulfur in the gas that's causing the smell, then i should be able to smell the stink during normal conditions if i don't have the circulation button on.
