HD receiver

I just notice Porsche has add a new option for the HD receiver, which I don't see it during my build The dealer told me the only way I can change it now is to change the whole PCM unit otherwise I have to wait until they have an upgrade ( which I don't think it will)... So I wanted to know has anyone has added a HD receiver on their PCM unit without getting the factory HD receiver unit? Is it possible to add it on? TIA.

If Porsche uses the same HD receiver as does VW, don't lose any sleep over it. I got HD radio with the Harmon-Kardon Logic-7 surround system in my Touareg. The HK was great - better actually, than the Bose upgrade in my Cayenne. But the HD component was a piece of crap.

I ordered it and I like it. It is noticeable more clear. The stations broadcasting in HD are limited to 2 that I like a little. However I listen to CD's, satellite, and my Iphone via blue tooth connection much more often. Don't lose too much sleep. You can research your HD station list to see what is in your area. Sorry I can't help with you actual question.
I was screwed too. I ordered a 958 with auto dimming mirrors and it didn't make it to my build. It was the dealers mistake.

What year is your 958? I thought the HD option for Porsche just started in Nov. 2012.
Did you get your refund back from your dealer for the mirrors? Or just have them to install it back since its their mistake and you pay for it.
Dont know why Porsche always make small mistake like this, for these high end cars, aren't they suppose to inspect everything before deliver to a customer? When I got my CS, the badge only say Cayenne, I was like WTF? Are you guys selling me the cayenne v6 for the price of a S? Very disappointed.

2013 GTS
I didn't pay for the mirror. The mirror was on my list and read back to me as included. I caught it missing on the sheet. I made my dealer aware that it was missing. Porsche of America said it wasn't too late to add it. Porsche of Germany told my dealer it was too late. Apparently my dealer knew the whole time and chose to leave that part out. Service told me to not be mad, just tint the windows. It can't be done aftermarket.

It really sad to hear that, but you can maybe tint the mirror instead of the window but if i were you, I might not take the vehicle until they built me a new one, but I know it's very hard to wait for few more months since you have already wait few months, and you want to take the monster out to the street to have some crazy fun... just give them some bad review or complain about it, at least in the future they won't make this kind of mistake.

I was tempted to not take it.
For HD radio, I can honestly say I now surf some 2 of the HD stations daily. I prefer the content of XM radio, but the overly compressed radio fatigues my ears. Only 2 decent stations in my city though, and they have too many commercials.

MrPorsche, your car is made since Nov, so your PCM should be able to display album art when you play music through the USB connection, could you confirm that?

It does not display album art. It actually didn't want to play at all.
It plays via bluetooth fine and shows no art.
When connected via USB the PCM has an "Ipod" Like CD IPOD AUX BT-AUX setting. Setting the PCM didn't play anything, but the PCM screen still showed the song as playing with album information.

On the bottom of my iphone there was a little button I pressed and there was a PCM and a CABLE DOCK setting. PCM wouldn't play music but would show the data as though it was. CABLE DOCK setting played the music fine.

MrPorsche, when did you get your car delivered? Of course Bluetooth will not display album art, you should be able to play iPod through the USB using a standard Apple cable. You will get much better music quality than using Bluetooth which was designed for wireless speech transmission.

Roughly November 20th. I don't get the album art on either USB connection or Bluetooth.

Your car is probably Oct production, according to Porsche's website, starting Nov, PCM would be able to display album art, there is also an internal hard drive for music storage.
