I was just at my dealer for something and they had a Turbo sitting on the floor and I happened to notice that it's headlights look different than mine. I checked it's option sheet and there weren't any special headlight related options listed.

The difference is that on mine (2013 Diesel) the ring around the HID lens is solid but on the turbo there are "things" there. I couldn't tell if they are supposed to be vents or if they are additional LEDs.

Anyone have a clue what I'm on about?

 

The turbo has the daytime running lights built into the headlight housing that surrounds the projector bulb. The 4 holes are LED's that are lit when the headlights are off.

Yes. And although it looks like just the 4 LEDs, there are actually many smaller LEDs also surrounding the entire ring.

 

I see that now. Very distinct look and helps set them apart from the other models.

it's the LED DLR in the headlight integrated.

Does anyone know if these can be retrofitted in non-turbo / GTS models? I am eventually wanting to change my headlights to black and thought I may upgrade to these as well if possible. Thanks.

 

Yes you can. I believe the dealer needs to program it so the DRLs will work though (no idea what happens to your normal DRLs if you haven't also done the bumper swap).
