Anyone here have a Cayenne V6 with sport design package
hi all, I was thinking about purchasing a Cayenne v6 with sport design package and just wanted to know if anyone here in the forums has one or know of anyone that has one.
As far as I know the sport design package is similar to the body kit in the cayenne gts, is that correct? I have seen pictures of the gts with the turbo II wheels, but I wonder how it will look with just the stock 18s.
As for the cayenne v6 engine, do any of you v6 engine owners feel that its too underpowered for its weight? I am not looking for something extremely fast but I do want something that has grunt especially climbing steep hills or for easily passing cars in the highway.
thanks

thanks for the info, sounds good. what options did you get?
I still have to go to the dealer this week to test drive a v6 if available, the v6 seems to sell quickly and dont have many in stock. I was thinking of getting the tip tronic with the sport design package, are there any options you would definitely recommend? I am trying not to go too crazy since the porsche options are extremely pricey.

If you are going with the Tip on the V6 anyway, I'd suggest thinking about the Diesel as it is only about $3k off at that point. Not that the base V6 is lacking in my opinion, but there is no comparison to how the TDI handles passing at speed and steep hills. There are options, however, the Diesel can't get (4 zone climate, PDCC, and PTV come immediately to mind).
As far as options, I always recommend the roof rails. Unlike previous models you can't retrofit the rails later and the clamp on style mounts from Thule/Yakima/etc.. only allow 100lbs while the factory rails support 220lbs. A box/basket usually comes in about 50lbs. Even if you don't plan to use the roof now, it isn't something that you can change down the road if you need it. Personally I think it looks better with the rails too.
If you think you might want to use the hitch it is much cheaper to get it from the factory than to add it after the fact.
Power Steering Plus makes it feel like a much smaller car when you are at low speeds (e.g. parking).
If you'll have pets/kids in the back the electric blinds are nice.
Most people seem to like the cargo management system, but since it's main function is to haul the dogs I worried about their toes getting caught in that so I didn't get it.
For me the requirements were hitch, rails, HID lights, PS+, rear blinds, front seat warmers, fire extinguisher, and 14-way seats. Had I stayed with the base V6 the 4 zone climate was on the required list as well.
Thanks for the information. I really appreciate hearing from a current owner, your feedback is very valuable.
Good Luck with your current ride. I will test drive one soon.
I also like the turbo II wheels but might get them aftermarket since the option costs over 5k. What kind of wheels did you go with? How comfortable is the ride?

Unless you absolutely love the OEM wheels, go after market and save a bundle.
I have the base 18s on steel springs and I think the ride is fine. I'm sure the air + pdcc would make it that much more fun, but I'm happy with my choices (except the Nav, but that is a whole different rant).

I have base V6 with Tiptronic since Dec'12 & absolutely love it. More than adequate as a daily driver. Was looking at S also but could not justify almost 15k more just for a V8 engine. Instead went with V6 with necessary options. My next project is to change out 18" wheels with aftermarket 20" wheels.

I also have a 2013 base v6 since September and am very happy with the response of the engine. Gas mileage is not great (around 20-21 mpg on the highway) but it is similar to the mileage of the vehicle it replaced. If you want good mileage, go with the diesel. If you want 4 zone air, PDCC and PTV, go with the gas V6, since they are not available on the diesel.
My V6 is decently loaded. It was the dealer's last 2012 when I purchased it back in November. It has the premium plus package, entry and drive, Bose pkg, and the 21" Turbo II wheels. I really wanted the Pano roof but I got a very good deal.
I was given the option of substituting the 21" for the 19" but ultimately decided I didn't want to waste time/effort of going aftermarket. The 21" is a firm ride but not uncomfortable.
Additionally, I was able to get the dealer to CPO the vehicle for $2500 which is a fair price to extend the warranty for another 2 years and 50k miles.

As for the CPO has is the reliable of the cayenne relative to other suvs,so far I have not read of any major issues.
Id obviousy rather get the oem wheels like you but im under a strict under 70k budget for the cayenne. Do you have any pictures of your ride? How does the 21 inch wheels do with stopping distance and traction with the snow?
Thanks so much for the feedback. All the replies were very helpful

Here is a breakdown of what I paid and hopefully it will help you. The sticker price was 72,940.00 and the purchase price was $ 62,500.00 + 2500.00 (CPO) = 65,000.00.
Another issue about the 21" is the cost of replacement. It is not a popular size and cost >400.00/tire to replace.
I will take some pics later. I do not have experience with the vehicle in the snow as I have only put 2k miles on the car since purchasing. CPO is transferable to another owner.
