What does this icon mean?

Hello everyone,

I have brand new CTT with around 600 miles on it. I have a weird icon/symbol that pops up for like 20 second then it disappear for the day. It happens almost everyday and I don't know what cause it. I looked on the manual but didn't find anything similar.

I know the picture is not clear but i was driving. Please if you know what it is let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Exactly it.

Also if the car brakes in front of you and you don't have to be paying attention, it will trigger an alarm and a red warning in the same window along with brakes being boosted up to stop faster.

I love the ACC for this feature alone.

I hate this feature. Almost got me killed. I slid into a small space between 2 cars in the passing lane. I went from not having anybody very close in front of me to being right on somebodies tail. The car thought I was going to rear end him so it hit the brakes for me. I am amazed the guy behind me didn't slam into me from behind. He did have a few choice gestures for me. Fortunately it can be turned off and I keep it off.

YEP its a warning when too close to the car in front , you can turn that off in the menu.

BUT, how do you turn off the stupid adaptive cruise control, i want a normal cruise control. Mentioned above, changing lanes becomes dangerous when the car brakes at the wrong time.

I don't think you can. I guess since we paid extra for it Porsche assumes we want it. Makes sense I guess.

Of course you can turn it off! And you can also adjust the sensitivity/distance for when it kicks in if it is active.

Did your car come with an owner's manual? It's usually in the glove box, but sometimes they put it in the door pocket. Or download Porsche's Good to Know app onto your iPhone or iPad from the iTunes store.

Instructions are in there under Adaptive Cruise Control.

I believe the op of the question wants to turn off ACC and use normal cruise control instead. At least on my 2014 CD, there is only ACC and no option for normal cruise control.

IMHO, I really like adaptive cruise control, specially when stuck in slow moving traffic. I just adjust the sensitivity to one bar and the CD just follows the car in front until there is a total stop.

Yes you can turn it off as a "safety" item when cruise is not on. In my first post I say mine is off. I don't think you can turn it off with cruise control on. In other words - use cruise but not with the adaptive feature. What sinktheboat asked was "how do you turn off the stupid adaptive cruise control, i want a normal cruise control." TTCarrera - I don't think I deserved the smart *** answer about the manual. Again if you read the entire thread you would have seen that mine is off. Read post 5. Apology accepted.

See Visitador's post above yours for how to regulate the ACC. Sorry if I got confused over whether or not you know how to turn it off. Ambiguity.

No Problem. I know how to regulate it with cruise control on. There is no way (I don't think) to regulate it with the cruise off. IT then acts as a safety feature to stop or slow the car if you get too close to the car in front. I think the confusion here is this icon serves two purposes - one with cruise on and one with cruise off. I have mine off and the icon always shows with the line through it and not illuminated. With cruise on it still illuminates (even thought the safety feature is off) when the cruise slows the car down. I like the adaptive cruise just not the safety feature when cruise is off and I am not expecting the car to react on its own.

From what I read, the icon is for the PAS (Porsche Active Safe) latent warning. It shows up when you have followed another car too closely and the car in front suddenly brakes.

From my memory, I know that there is a setting in the display (I think it is under PAS) that allows you to remove the "check" for laten warnings. Actually, I am reading the manual on my Porsche app right now, and it says that you can uncheck "pre warning on." That should stop the warning from showing up, but the Cayenne will still warn you with an acute warning if it senses you are not reacting promptly to a slow car in front of you. Hope this helps.

[Edit: I guess it is the Porsche mother ship whispering to you that you just followed someone too closely. If you still don't pay attention, it will shout at you and pre-arm the brakes.]
