I've never met a Pirelli that I can even tolerate. We swear by Michelins on the 996 (PS2s) and e90 328 (A/S).

I've also been happy with Conti's SUV tires (best mileage I've gotten from any tire).

a lot of good reviews on the Contis, probably my next set ..
I have both sets Latitute and P Zero, on my 2 Cayenne's, actually the Pirelli's are not that bad as my previews P zeros on my 911.. but they only have 3k miles, let see when they hit the 10k, what I do noticed is, on smooth surfaces if you turn the steering wheel you can feel a knocking sound

Contis are what came on the 996 and we hated them. Ended up using 3 sets on my Ford Escape and got between 30-40k out of them which is unheard of for me.

We also despised the Conti RFTs that came on the BMW. We were thrilled when one blew it's sidewall and we could justify putting the Michelins on it.

My last sets were the ones that came on my XK8 and came with the R-Type wheels I put on it. Between the two sets I got 15k

I drive fast (especially back then), but it's not like I was doing burn outs (damn automatic!) or power slides in it.

The only thing worse than Ps in my opinion are Good Years. I once got a whopping 5k out of a set (though that was in my first car that I did a lot of bad things in...).

HOiYA is infamous around these parts
I also read some good reviews on the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta. Plan on trying them out when the Michelins wear out.

I'm somewhat surprised with all the negative opinions specific to Pirelli.
Personally, I've owned 3 different sets of 20" Pirelli Scorpion's and have had pretty good results in about 100k miles.

Regardless, 21" Pirelli's P-Zero's are waiting for my CTT once Spring hits. We shall see...
Otherwise, depending on performance I observe, i may try Vredestein or Michelins a year or so down the road when the P-zero's wear out.

Never had a single good experience with Pirelli.

I swear by Michelin or I would use the Toyo Advan on our rides. Now that is a sticky tire.

Been driving European cars exclusively since 1985: BMW, Alfa, Lancia, Citroen, Mercedes, Porsche. Tires when purchased were typically Conti/Pirelli/or similar. When it came time to change, I always reshod them with Michelin. Most recently I spec'd Michelin Latitude Tour GreenX (LRR tires) on my new Cayenne. Despite that, it arrived on Contis. I refused delivery of the car until the dealer replaced the Contis with the requested Michelins.

I didn't find them excessively loud but i cannot say they were silent either.
I know that doesn't help answer the question.

Basically, i would rate them somewhere in the middle... as far as noise levels go.
