Powder coated calipers question

Guys - I need your advice. I am thinking about getting my calipers powder coated in red. But I was wondering how you get the Porsche logo in white back on the calipers? Would this be just a decal or something?! If so, would it hold up well? Appreciate any advise you can provide, thanks!

Getting them powder coated would mean removing them which means bleeding the brake lines, etc.. Not a small job and a lot of labor. It is the right way to do it as opposed to just using some paint on caliper paint. The logo is a sticker you can get from Suncoast Porsche Parts online. If you get the factory one, there should be no issues. I'm not 100% sure how the factory logo is put on?

The sticker is minor. Getting them refinished is quite the job!

I have used caliper spray paint and it held up fine. Easy to touch up too. Cleaned them on the car and masked off the wheel well and rotor. There are epoxy brush-on kits but haven't tried them.

Thank you guys for your input. Solrac - did you remove the calipers? How expensive was the entire job?

I own a powdercoating business, and I specialize in calipers. Have done over 2500 sets in the last 9 years for various cars. The way I do the letters is usually with vinyl, sometimes a stencil and paint, and then in most cases clearcoat with powdercoat over the vinyl to make them permanent. The problem with red calipers though, is that even with a low temperature cure clearcoat, the red bleeds through the white vinyl and turns it pink, so they are just uncoated vinyl stickers. I have successfully clearcoated silver and black letters on most reds though.

I did mine in Lamborghini Orange with black letters

This is a great explanation. Thanks for the insight.

Mike just did a set for me in Inferno Orange to match my Camaro. They are not even on the vehicle yet. He has been doing my calipers, guns, superchargers and anything else you can think of for years.

I even asked him to powder coat the sides of the bolt heads that hold on the calipers and he did perfectly.

He is top quality, top notch and high attention to detail.

Mike,

How long would a powdercoat job on the calipers take?

I'm new here and just bought a '14 Mahogany Platinum Edition.

I painted mine Red with caliper paint. Removed calipers but not the brake lines. They turned out nice. Only thing I would have done different is put the white Porsche logo (sticker) on the red caliper instead of black The black logo on red doesn't show up very well.
