I found an ebay seller who sells oem Porsche in dash compasses, chronos and stop watches at different trim colors since i had mine in black color during my order time the color trim for the middle compass was only in black i ordered my dash board in luxor beige i have 2011 CS.

i thought of replacing the entire middle compass with either a new stop watch in luxor beige or i the same compass in luxor beige !! However, i am thinking more in getting the watch since its more beneficial at least gives time info more and easy to locate ! my question will that fit and work properly my car came fitted with the compass do i need to worry about something prior making the decision?

Appreciate feedback

Thanks

It is not plug-and-play, you need the proper software for the dash clock to work.

Actually the clock function should work without coding (though I don't know about compass -> clock), but the extra functions like the stop watch need to be coded.

There are actually two types of clock. Starting MY2013, the dash clock (no stopwatch feature) is a standard feature. And there is the Sport Chrono stopwatch which can be set to display time. I don't think anyone has successfully added a dash clock to pre-2013 models. Porsche always makes retrofitting very difficult. And dealers are usually not helpful. Most will say it cannot be done and even if it can be done, the cost us usually prohibitive.

This is the clock on my 2013 Cayenne S, it looks like the ebay one. I drove a 2014 loaner one time and it had the same clock, not sure about 2015. A funny feature about this clock is that it actually stops running when ignition is off and as you unlock the car it will quickly spin to the current time.

Additionally, the basic clock and the chrono (what I was referring to) use the same wiring. I believe the compass uses an additional/different wiring harness based on the threads I've looked at for people wanting to install the compass after the fact (haven't seen it successfully done).

So we have 2 situations, from no clock to clock, compass to clock. If the compass uses same wiring as the clock, maybe it can be done. The thing with Porsche is they keep information secretive and most dealers are reluctant to help.

nothing to worry about. if buy sportchrono stopwatch - you may need enabling code for stopwatch function. write to me then. without code they surely will work as clock, stopwatch function depends. ebay sellers did sells them REALLY alot of.

Please don't get me wrong, I am not trying to give any advise. Really, if anyone has successfully added a dash clock, please let us know. I like to do the same to my 2011 Panamera.
