Replacing sideview mirror bulbs?

Anyone been able to get to the bulbs to replace them (LED)?

I've searched and havn't found a thread where it was actually accomplished.

Yes, I did mine. It involves removing the body color cover, the mirror glass, the mirror base, I wouldn't say it is easy but it can be done.

You can pry the mirror off.

New LED bulb, you need to get a shorter bulb, the space is very limited. As the bulb is installed sideways, you need to get one that has LED elements on the side of the bulb, otherwise it will not be bright enough.

Which bulb did U end up using? Also any issues we should be aware before attempting so no clips or glass will be broken?

I just had these 2 extra no-name LED bulbs that happened to fit. I bought a whole bunch of LEDs a while ago because I also changed all my interior lights to LED. I did not break any glass or clips but you need to be very careful. You need to remove the mirror glass and the mirror base first because you need to unclip the body color cover from behind. After the cover is removed, you can then pull out the light socket. Hope this helps.

I appreciate your detailed info, very helpful! Which is removed first? The Plastic cover, or the mirror?

You need to remove the mirror glass first in order to get behind the plastic cover to release the clips.

Just wrap a towel on a screwdriver and you can pry out the mirror, not too much force is needed, don't worry, you won't break anything.

How do you release the clips? I could not find any clips in or behind the housing?

The housing is retained by a few clips, look carefully and you will see them.
