Consumer report reliability article

Does anyone knows how the Cayenne fared in the latest report. I know that Porsche is ranked 9th. It also states that the worst one among Porsches is the 911 while the best is the Cayman (kind of interesting since both share lots of common parts). There was no mention of Cayenne, Q7 or Toureg.

Don't quote me, but i scanned through the consumer reports auto publication about a month ago.

The Cayenne faired well and i believe it was considered a 'recommended' vehicle. I also recall seeing the 911 taking a hit for reliability.

I'll check when I get home but this is from the online page:

"Consumers Reports - The midsized Cayenne is one of the sportiest, most agile SUVs on the market. The base V6 has been replaced by a turbo V6 for 2015. A V6 diesel, V8, and hybrid engines are also available. The eight-speed automatic is super-smooth. The ride is supple and steady but rather stiff at low speeds. The seats are comfortable, and the cargo area is roomy enough. Interior fit and finish is impeccable, but the controls are confusing. The stop/start feature shuts the engine off at idle to save fuel but is slow to restart at times; luckily it can be disabled. Reliability has been above average. "

I've had my CT for almost 3 years, bought it brand new(2012 model). Currently it has 43K miles (68,000 km) and it's been daily driven all year round in our unbearable heat and dust with no big issues to report. it's been very reliable and a dream to drive which makes me a happy owner! The only problem I got now is I CANNOT DD any other car instead of the CT! All other cars are boring lol.

If you're considering one, go for it! you won't regret it.

And this is why I don't give CR a dime. They continue to show that they have no idea what they are talking about.

Thanks for the replies. I love my CD. It is now one year old. Asides from the info display panel changing views on its own on a rare occasion, nothing to say. I remember my 987 had a couple of issues on first year. I guess East German labor is better? Lol

I was just interested on what Cayenne owners reported to Consumer Reports.

Good catch - this is pretty funny. Someone didn't do their homework.

For the OP, not sure if this is what you were looking for.

Thanks. Actually what I was trying to find is how the Cayenne stands among all Porsche models. Obviously better than the 911 and below the Cayman.

The V8 is the 'Turbo' in the Cayenne Turbo. So in the US market there will be a V6 Turbo Diesel, V6 Turbo 'S', V6 E-Hybrid, and V8 Turbo 'Turbo'. There is no Base offered in the US Market. Too bad they don't offer the V8 Turbo Diesel (in the US). Think I got this all correct

For year 2012:

991 - Not enough data
981 - Not enough data
958 - well I printed that.

Though if one looks back to 2008, the Boxster fared the best being much above average.

I purchased my 2011 CT back in November 2010 and was an early build (05/2010). No major issues, just minor fixes, which were quickly resolved. I've driven just under 14,000 miles.

- two new sport design steering wheels (first, for delamination on one of the spokes and the other for loose stitching, which the dealer was more than accommodating to replace)
- new dashboard speaker and passenger front door speaker due to minor vibration
- new sunroof motor (dealer discovered it, I was unaware as I hardly use it)
- loose driver's sport seat which required tightening of mounts
- driver side window control unit replaced due to failed auto up / down function
- overly sensitive oil level sensor which would read low oil
- campaign to fix center console latch
- some other Porsche campaigns which were taken care of during routine service

I have noticed that one of TPMS sensors reads a little lower than actual when verified with a tire pressure gauge. Again, I am not surprised that I have experienced minor bugs given that mine was one of the early builds.
