Tuned Cayenne Diesel or Cayenne S - Opinions please?
Hi all
I have the opportunity to put my 2011 CD in for a late 2010 CS which has some of the options I wished my CD had, albeit not all of them? The CS is very similar in price to the offer the dealer has made me to take mine in although I paid more for mine so am loosing some depreciation which I can accept.
Problem is i just paid to have the diesel tuned to get more from it and bought some decorative bits like Turbo pedals, twin exhaust tips, black tailgate finisher and more so I will walk away from all of that stuff because the tips dont fit the V8 exhaust system and the CS has the pedals and finisher already.
My question mainly, will a tuned CD (285hp & 650 Nm) pull / drive better than a standard CS and can things like a tune and IPD plenum bring a bit more out of the CS to make it a no brainer?
I cant stretch to a Turbo yet, still another £20k here in the UK so 18 months away.
Id appreciate some feedback, its 4 hours away so a long way to travel only to find the tuned CD is a better drive than the V8 in the CS?
Thanks
Carl

If you are eyeing a CTT in 18 months, stick with the CD and save the money that you'd lose on the CS at that point.
The diesel is going to feel faster than the CS will due to all that torque, but the reality is the CS will do better at the top end. CD will cost you less at the pump to make up for it though
As far as CS upgrades, you can do various bits but the reality is that to get significant power upgrades out of a NA motor requires some serious cash to be put down. Bolt on things like a new intake, exhaust, or plenum will only add a little bit. The cheaper power option is to start with a CTT.

As gnat as stated, you will not gain much increase in the CS with a tune, plenum, or exhaust. These bolt on mods really benefit a forced induction engine (i.e. turbo). I think will be much happier (performance wise) with your CD. What options on the CS has you wanting? I also agree that if you really want more power, hold out for the CTT.
Hi guys
Both cars have PASM so that's comparable and they are almost identical in colour combo, wheels etc. but the CS has the extended leather to dash, door cards, centre console etc and the black exterior package that mine doesn't have but it doesn't have the adaptive seats, clock on the dash or ofcourse the Turbo's.
I think you guys are right and it should be Turbo or no change from my CD?
Thanks for the sanity check

Wow, deep philosophy. Last I checked, the Cayenne is pretty much a truck. Yes I live in the land of jacked up boys toys, see them every day, and no, it's not a coal rolling Cummins or a Power Stroke can of ball bearings live axled dually.
However, it's still a truck, and the diesel is a perfect engine for it if you're not looking for outright massive acceleration.
