GTS Secondary Bypass Custom made at exhaust shop advisable?
GTS Secondary Bypass Custom made at exhaust shop advisable?
hi guys,
i am considering to do a secondary bypass for the gts rather than to buy the fabspeed option
http://www.evoms.com/Cayenne_S_TT_Se...ab957scbpp.htm
To be honest, rather than cost factors, I prefer if I can do it right away at the exhaust shop.
Can someone tell me if this is a safe route?
I have done custom bypass pipes before and they work fine but thats on another car.

Hi , I have actually thought of doing it locally already but pmed me the pricing and delivery timing thanks
Hi, thanks for your message.
I think so too.
I always wonder the difference in material used by custom shops and the Superior fabspeed ones.
I wonder if it makes much of a difference.
I went to a local exhaust shop here in the UK yesterday and they said it needed 3 hours per side of labour to get the old ones off and new ones in, including fit up for assembly, needless to say it because expensive, twice the price of the pipes themselves @ £160 for the parts £320 for the labour, is it really 6 hours to remove and install?

Great to see some discussion going on.
Specifically talking about the 958 GTS here but I guess the idea is similar.
So I guess going to a custom shop is safe enough.
If theres anything I should be converned of, let me know

Well, I would just install what is available for the car (which I did) from known and reputable exhaust companies. I wouldn't just let someone fabricate those pipes and install them in my car, especially around here .There is always a chance for things to go wrong, which is fine since you're doing this from scratch. But, is it really worth it? and your doing this to a new Porsche?
M3- I like to know that as well.
In fact thats the main reason behind this over the quicker Turbo
The burble sound is really nice, I am really curious what it would sound like with a secondary cat bypass.

Been busy lately and had no time to update my progress.
I have gotten the customize pipes done.
Heres to share my experience:
-Custom Pipes work just fine ( 3 hours hammering+1 hour sourcing material parts)
-Cost about $300USD
- the sound is exactly the same but x 3 times louder
-Cold Start is Very Loud and will be with or without sportsmode
-If sports mode or exhaust button is off, the crusing noise is almost as quiet as before.
Only thing I wonder is there is a lot of burbling when you let go the throttle in sports mode/exhaust valve open
I do like the cracking noise but just wanted to know whats causing this noise.
