I've being doing some shopping and negotiating for an used Cayenne, and one of cars I'm interested has only one key available, as the owner has misplaced one.

The owner called a local dealer and he was quoted $500 to replace/reprogram one key.

I'm wondering if this is a legit quote and if anyone know a dealer (maybe in SoCal, LA area) that can do it for less. This Cayenne doesn't have entry-and-drive feature.

Thanks for the help!

I would just call a couple dealers and ask.

Thanks MIK911. I wonder if it's the same thing for 2012 style key (can't be cut.. it's just plastic remote-looking thing)

I'm pretty sure it's the same. My 2011 and a friends 2015 had the same type of plastic remote car shaped thing

There is still an actual (hidden) key in the remote to use if the remote fails.

u cant start the car with the removable blade key. it locks the glove and can unlock the drivers side door if you pull the plasic cap/housing off.

2012 Cayenne S - key replacement

When I purchased my c-gts (Pre-owned) it only came with one key. I went to Porsche downtown LA and they quoted me a little over $400 for the key and reprogramming. It took a little over an hour. I had a good time drinking coffee and walking around the showroom enjoying the showroom beauties they had out.

If you need the exact amount, I saved the service record for record keeping sake.

They will ask you for some papers to verify that the car is yours and what not. Just mandatory procedures. I.D. etc etc

Thanks guys.. Turns out the seller sold the car to a local Porsche dealership for a lower price than I offered. Not sure why but it happened so I need to start looking again. Nevertheless, really appreciate the helps!!
