Technically, Porsche didn't design the engine since it's a modified Volkswagon VR6. Porsche engineers did modify it somewhat to increase the horsepower, otherwise it's the same engine found in some models of the Touareg. It's a decent engine, but the Porsche engineers apparently didn't pay close attention where the oil filter housing (or the drain plug) was relative to the rest of the underbody chassis components. Torquing the drain plug is a bit of a challenge as well as a result with the front axle in the way.

For the price, I'm happy with the choice. I needed a vehicle with air suspension due to elderly parents living with us. Putting the vehicle in loading level made it much easier for them to get in and out. With my limited budget at the time, I was able to add PDCC as well for the fun factor when I'm by myself

Agreed, the 2014 Cayenne V6 is very similar to the Touareg. The space is very tight. I can't even drop it down. Remove the filter so I can tilt the Oil Filter cap to get it out. So it important to follow procedure as shown in Touareg link. Oil capacity is 7.13 Quart. I filled 7 Quarts first and refill after the oil level indication.

My Porsche SA gave me a free reset ... Otherwise I have to buy Durametric tool.

First post here. After reading through the forums for about 4 months I finally purchased a nicely optioned base V6. Just did an oil change. Uhhh.. wow! My wife was watching and laughing (and bragging about the ease of her MINI) at the messiest change I've ever had to do. I mean, coming in I knew it wouldn't be fun thanks to this post. But its one of those things you really have to experience first hand to get the full effect. Anyway, just wanted to say I appreciate the pic of the oil covered arm. Sort of took the sting out of my own change... ever so slightly.
