Talking V6 double exhaust pipes (with video) [UPDATED - tips installed]

So I've been wanting to upgrade my exhaust but didn't want to spend the money on the PSE and then have the dealer charge who knows how much. I got the idea for what I did in this post here:

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ust-sound.html

They are talking about how the non-PSE muffler might be the same as the PSE one. I was able to get a local muffler shop to cut open the extra holes and attach two pipes from each side - still can't decide on tips so for now the bare pipes will have to do

The sound is pretty awesome from the outside, and a slight increase from the inside...more rumble - I don't know what the PSE is supposed to sound like irl - I only have this guy's video for reference and it doesn't quite sound like his from inside.

Anyway this is what it sounds like at the moment - I like it quite a bit - and for less than the price of the ebay double exhausts (installed in the originally unused muffler holes) it's a pretty good deal (stainless steel mandrel bent piping) - I can't tell if it's much louder than original from the outside but I've definitely noticed more people turning heads before they see me so I guess maybe..?

Thats what I am looking to do.. I went to an indy muffler shop the other day and the guy refused to do it.. Says that it causes too many issues.. I think he was having a bad day...

Can you take a pic of what they did to the exhaust?

Thanks!

I would consider changing muffler shop if they said it would cause too many issues - the guys I went to said it was pretty straight forward. This is what the work looks like under the car. I was hesitant to have them cap the original hole - in the PSE exhaust I was under the impression both are open or only the rear-most ones are open, so I didn't want to mess with that...

Thanks for those pics.
Did you use the tips that branch to a "Y"?
How about taking a picture of the connection of those pipes to the tips

Thanks

Hey - there are no tips attached yet - going in to get them done Saturday , but the pipes don't branch it's literally just two pipes coming out of the two holes from the muffler and running to the space for the tips:

Not at all. I paid $400 quad tips included (the shop is letting me choose style) - my alternative was to do the ebay tips but I live in Canada and the exchange rate from USD or GBP is just...terrible at the moment. Then add shipping and whatever duties our ultra protectionist customs tacks on and so it's better to do it local.

Very nice. Be sure to post up some pics after you get the tips mounted.
Great idea and exhaust note. Would like to do something similar.

wasn't able to get in until today but here they are fresh from the shop in the middle of a rain storm - I was debating between the 4" and the 3.5" angled tips - the one's on ebay are a sliver short of 4" and I thought based on some pics floating around that they were a little too big - I'm glad to say the 3.5" feels perfect to me.

First pic is the original car (I plastidipped these to carry me over until I had them changed)

The boys at JPG exhaust working their magic

aaand the new tips are looking amazing

I also recently carried some 8 foot lumber home and had the hatch open...the exhaust sounds absolutely incredible, especially in sports mode really want to drive around with it open all the time LOL

not feeling those tips.. I think you should have cut the pipes down and welded on nicer double walled tips.. the fact that you can see the exhaust pipe kills it for me. You dont really see the exhaust pipes on OEM Porsche exhausts.

something like this.
