2017 differences

Oh joy. I come to discover the way the 2017 does a driver-side dead pedal is different than previous years. There's now a large plastic pad on the carpet instead of just the older smaller one sort of stitched-on.

This means something like Rennline's very nicely made metal dead pedal doesn't quite fit. Well, it fits, just not quite as nicely as it does on the 2011-16 years. The upside is the Rennline guys have been fantastically cooperative about it. It comes as rude a surprise to them too. I'll be doing a road trip up through Vermont next Summer and plan to see them in Milton along the way. Meanwhile they'll be working on changes for the pedal.

This also means the way the Weathertech and Porsche's own rubber mats fit isn't quite as nice as I think it should be. The Weathertech one has less of an issue with it by the nature of it's 'overlay' kind of design. But it does leave a bit of a ripple on the side (which might 'settle down' as the plastic relaxes).

The factory ones, however, don't really fit right. At least not without some trimming. Which seems like something I should 'have to do' for factory supplied items.

Interesting. Wonder if the dead pedal (and other pedals) on the Turbo are no longer stainless like they are on my '11 TT..? The GTS is basically a turbo without the turbos as far as trim/equipment levels go.. I'm pretty sure earlier year GTS's shared the stainless trim bits in the footwell.

The 2015+ GTS use the 440hp twin turbo V6. The Turbo and the Turbo S use the V8. The 2010-14 GTS V8 did not have the turbo and was rated at 420hp.

The brake and gas pedals in my '17 GTS are stainless with rubber ribs.

I have seen the dead pedal flooring in a Cayenne S and it's the same as I have in the GTS. I believe the gas and brake are also the same. I was checking for the Rennline folks.

I've not looked at the flooring in a '16 or later Turbo or Turbo S, so I don't know what they're using in the footwell. Nor have not seen the pedals/flooring in the base model.

I don't know if it's higher resolution, as I don't know what the previous models looked like. But as of '17 the Cayenne is using the same newer PCM setup as the Macan and 911. So, I'd say yes it's the updated gauge.

Sorry it's a pain for you, but I'm glad Porsche finally put a separate piece the dead pedal. The pho-pedal in my 13 irritates me.

Nice color combo BTW. Looks sharp.

Thanks. I'd planned on the darker blue but at the last minute my wife suggested Sapphire. It really pops. I kinda of wish I'd added the gloss black trim options (grille, mirrors) as that'd really have added to the look.

Yes, a larger pedal is nice, even if it's plastic. If/when Rennline figures out the metal one I'm in for it. I've got their 2016- model and it's nicely made. Haven't yet returned it or the PCM mount.

Arm rest storage different too?

I have the four-zone air conditioning setup (front/back separate controls).

Attached is a picture of the storage area under the front arm rest.

Is this different than 2016- models? And is it different than a '17 without the 4-zone setup?

It's different from a 2011 model with 4-zone. Mine looks deeper, and the rear wall is more vertical and higher, and the USB connector and AUX connector are on the rear wall. Front wall has the 12V outlet in it.

PCM bezel and center vents are different

The PCM in the '17 does not have a bezel around the screen. The screen is flat all the way under the left/right sides. The vent shroud overlaps the screen.

I discovered this when trying to use the Rennline cell phone mount. It won't work on the '17 PCM due to the bezel/vent changes.
