Need a locksmith to program a Key Fob in Tampa Bay area

I've found a source or two for OEM key fobs, but I need a locksmith (not a Porsche dealer) who can program a key fob and cut the emergency key for our newly purchased 2013 Cayenne S.
Bert Smith Porsche parts guys told us Porsche has been backordered on fobs for months, and likely will be for the foreseeable future.

Pretty sure you will need a dealer or at least an independent shop with the right computer to get the fob programmed. Let us know if you find a way around the dealer doing it.

Key fob and laser cut the spare key as well. Please let us know about your experience. I did the key fob and key replacement @ Porsche dealer in the past.

Thank.

From what I understand, for security purposes the key programming is tightly integrated with the rest of the vehicle's security system. You cannot work around this, and a generic locksmith WILL NOT be able to do this. This is a dealer-only option.

That and keys already programmed can not be re-programmed for a different vehicle.

There have been some gray market schemes to send keys and the computer to a 3rd party to have the system hacked to activate it. But I don't know how well (if at all) that kind of hack gets handled during future service interactions with the system. That and the vehicle is inoperable the whole time.

I was in St Pete a couple of weeks ago and there was a Car keys Express van at the Sam's club on 34th street that was selling key fobs for car and cutting keys and programming the fobs on site. Perhaps they can help. I got a spare fob and key for my wife's Forester for half of what the dealer would charge.
Hope this helps

There appears to be many key fobs available online that you can take to be programmed and the key cut. .

Wont work. 958 key fobs are tied to the original vehicle and cant be reprogrammed for adifferent car. You have to buy a new fob from the dealer and have it programmed to your car

Y'know, it occurs to me everyone repeats this as fact... but does anyone know for a certain that the key gets permanently unable to be reprogrammed? Or just that the dealers won't do it?

I'd imagine with the covid supply chain woes someone would have figured it out "for sure' but I have to wonder.
