Serpentine belt and oils....

Hi. I have to questions.

Im going to change the serpentine belt on the 04 cayenne turbo. Beside the belt, is there anything i shuld considder fixing while doing this? Found this link on how to DIY: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...eplacement.htm

Also im going to flush the gearbox. My car has 138.000km on it and its not been done before. But i have no clue what oil to use. They all seem to have diffrent names and numbers and its confusing. Been searxhing and reading but still not shure...
When flushing is it recomended to do this using a cleaning agent addative in the oil ore is oil alone more then good? I just see some have some extra stuff inn there to clean more they say.

Thanks upfront for all replys :-)

I would strongly suggest you replace the idler pulleys as well as your tensioner pulley while your in there. I found both of my pulleys bad when changing out the water pump and they only had 52k miles on them.

For the transmission drop the pan and change the filter. I recommend changing transmission fluid every 40-50k miles.

I'm not a fan of using a machine to flush the fluid or adding any additional "additives" as most of those additives can cause more harm than good. ATF fluid on its own has plenty of detergents to keep the insides of the transmission clean.

Dropping the pan and changing filter only gets about half the fluid out though. You don't think a true flush is a good thing once a car gets up there in mileage? Most of my cars have been manual trans so a fluid change is (practically) a complete change. Seems like a flush and refill with all new fluid would be a good thing. Not necessary for every change obviously though.

You can do a full flush if you like, but I wouldn't recommend using one of those machines that you see at those quickly lube places especially if you are way past due for a service. Instead, do a pan drop and top up the fluid and than do it again in another 500 miles. If you keep on top of regular fluids changes by dropping the pan you should have no problems keeping the transmission in tip top shape. The problem is most people don't keep on top of this...

There are three pulleys you need to buy: two idler pulleys and one tensioner pulley. If you click on my DIY Cayenne water pump Part 2 video, I talk about which pulleys you need along with part numbers. Keep in mind that the two idler pulleys do have different part numbers so make sure not to mix them up on reassembly.

I have no connection but here is a kit from ECS. They are a good company to deal with. https://www.ecstuning.com/Porsche-20...ECS/ES2826401/

I just looked up these parts separately and the ECS kit seems to be a pretty good price. Adding up the individual parts at two other places was more than this kit.

I already have a belt but I might just order this kit for when I do it and then I'll have a spare belt. This job seems to be a pretty major pain to get to though. I was gonna replace my power steering pump and lines but after spending half the day to get to the pump I realized I didn't have the right size wrench for the tensioner. I do now but I can see this being a full day project plus to do the power steering pump and belt, tensioner, and pulleys.
