Latest navigation/maps version Cayenne 2011 - 2014??

FRUSTRATION! I recently purchased from the parts department of my dealership the "Navigation Update" (958 044 902 51) which has been made available on Porsche's Techquipment site as of this month. Although there is no date associated with this update, it is apparently new as of 2014. It turns out that the purchase is nothing more than an authorization key which allows the dealership to upload maps which it has in its possession and receives periodically. The update claims that there is a "significantly higher degree of detail . . . and additional POCs". I cannot detect any of this after the update was performed. Upon asking the dealer, I was told that the latest version is 997.642.273.56 - Map Data PCM 3.X ? 06.2013 ?SW versions: 7PP.919.193.CC. That is, the version is from June 2013. And I wonder - what have I paid for? There is no literature available from Porsche as to what has been actually updated in this version of the maps. There is nothing visible, there is apparently no way to know the actual map version that has been installed, as there is no way to seek this version from the PCM itself. And further, how is the latest version of maps available to the dealer from June 2013? The response from the dealer is ignorance as to all these questions. Does anyone have any insight, advice, similar frustration???? At least, the only actual visible update that I got was the PCM software which went from v. 2.4 to v. 2.46.

You do not need to pay to update the PCM software. My dealer updated the PCM software on my Panamera and Cayenne to the latest version free of charge.

I understand that the PCM update is free of charge. My question is the navigation/map update which is sold by the techquipment site.

I asked a similar question a month or so back and did not get a response from anyone here, which is why I held off purchasing the 'key'.

Suncoast sells a 2013 update and I am certainly interested. I have PCM version 2.44, but would like to know what the "upgrade" is first prior to purchase.

Would it surprise you to hear that I have asked both the dealership and Porsche USA and no one seems to be able to give a direct and definitive answer?

My questions are simple:

1. What is the latest version of the PCM (mine is now 2.46).

2. What is the latest version of the maps (I am told it is 6.2013 - this seems old to me, especially when I have been told time and time again that an update would not be released until 1.2014).

3. What do the above updates actually update? I have seen zero changes.

And no possible answers yet. Is this not unbelievable???

2.44 only refers to the PCM OS version, nothing to do with the navigation data.

I know this - that's why I stated in #1 above that my PCM version is now 2.46. Not sure if this is the latest.

The question remains what the latest version of the maps is - I was told it was 6.2013.

Yes, I also understand the PCM has a software version # and there is a map component. How does one check the navigation software version if the PCM software version is independent of this?
