Cayenne S

Hi guys,
The car is giving me a squeaking noise when applying moderate brakes. This happens when driving for a couple of minutes. I presume when the brakes are getting hot. Not sure whats causing this. This started happening when I got the brakes and the rotors replaced at a local mechanic shop. The odd part is I replaced the rear brakes and rotors at the same place and did not get any noise. Its been couple of weeks now that I am getting this annoying squeaking noise when applying the brakes at low speed. I've been reading previous treads and tied doing 60+ and hard braking, it helps for a little bit and it comes back again later. What can I do to make this go away? Do I have to live with it until I need to replace them again? The set I had on before that was serviced at the dealer and it did not make any noise at all. Just wanted to get an opinion, maybe there is an answer for it somewhere out there. Thanks again guys, I would appreciate any feedback.

Joe

I am not sure. Since I did not think it would matter. When I did the rear brakes and did not get any noise. I believe there are only a couple of brands that make aftermarket parts for Porsche. Since I don't thing the guy put factory parts. It only cost me $230 for front set. Two rotors and and 4 pads.

Some tend to be a bit louder then others is why I ask. There are a few threads on how to properly do it. This can also be found on Hawks PDF:

Brake Pad Burnishing/Bedding-In Instructions

  1. After installing new brake pads, make 6 to 10 stops from approximately 30 to 35 MPH applying moderate pressure.
  2. Make an additional 2 to 3 hard stops from approximately 40 to 45 MPH.
  3. Do NOT drag the brakes!
  4. Allow 15 minutes for the brakes to cool down.
  5. After step 4 your brakes are ready to use.

Seems like the noise is gone. Hopefully it won't be back. Keeping the fingers crossed.

No luck with the braking hard system on the noise. It is back again and seems like is not going away. Not sure if I need to redo them. Such a wast of money. If I just replace the pads will it work. Or I need to do the rotors too. What brand does not make any noise? Not sure what the next step would be. Please help.

Have your dealer check them out. Brakes are one thing I NEVER skimp on. Too much at risk.
