Hurricane on an extension cord... The Toro Ultra blower
Hurricane on an extension cord... The Toro Ultra blower
Just picked it up yesterday. Got tired of dealing with rusty rotors.
Holy smokes. This thing is powerful. I dried the whole car in about 5 mins. And when I say dry, I mean every door jam and seam. This thing is something else. I managed to end up with a few water spots due to me doing this out in the noon soon, but they were easily remedied with some QD. There is definitely an art to drying with one of these machines. It'll take some practice for sure, as if you're not careful, you'll blow water on to your already dry panels. What I'm finding works best, is if you blow away or down depending the panel. What I'm finding is that the large beads turn into tiny smaller beads, almost a light mist. On your second pass, they end up vaporizing and disappearing altogether. The thing that really impressed me was that I could blow the wheels and calipers dry. No more water coming out of the wheel bolts once I start driving. This gets rid of it all, including any moisture on the rotors themselves.
Next time, I'll wash it. Immediately pull it into the garage. Blow the wheels and calipers first. Then blow off the rest of the car. Finally, do minor touchups with a MF. Nice thing about the blower as well is that any crap that may have landed on your paint while cleaning, which normally would stick to your car since it's wet and end up scratching it while you were drying it, gets blown away in short order.
Good buy for $70. Oh, and it's very light and easy to use. Just remember to knot the extension cord around the end of the unit so you don't keep unplugging it like I did

I've been using one of these for a while now and it makes my life so easy. Combine with the CR Spotless DI water and spots are a thing of the past. It's hard to dry a car without it once you've made the switch.
Some people have questioned it blowing sand and dirt at the cars or dust, however if you think about it while you are drying, even with a microfiber you are likely doing more damage by rubbing that same dirt into the paint directly. With this way no hand has to touch it outside the wash.

I really can't see it blowing sand or dirt at the car. The intake is on the bottom of the blower and you're it holding several feet in the air. We don't have large sand particles floating in the air here in Tampa
I agree, less hands touching the paint, the better. I do find you have to touch a couple spots up with the MF, but for the most part, after the blower it's done.
The CR is a great unit. I just can't justify the cost. If you blow the car dry properly there shouldn't be any water spots anyway. You can pretty much guarantee though that there won't be any spots if you use DI water and the blower.

Hey Everyone,
I have the exact same blower for sale if anyone wants. I purchased it a few weeks back but moved into an apartment and there is no car wash here and no where for me to plug it in and use it. So Its back to microfiber towels for me. I have the box and everything it came with.
55 bucks shipped gets it. (shipping will be around 20 bucks or so). or 40 using your shipping account.

I had a customer bring in a small makita electric air blower. It sells for around $200. It is very small, has a filter, rubber hose, and is very strong (about 115MPH). I have to say I was impressed by the power of the little tool it is small enough to use in the interior and exterior.
Yep can;'t beat the Toro at that price, esp when I have to use it to clear up the friggin leaves too!!

Home Depot I think.
The first time I used mine, the neighbors kinda of game me wierd looks (not many car crazy people around). A few weeks later I saw 2-3 guys washing thier cars and leaf blowing them off, so I guess they realized I Wasn't so crazy after all.
I'm going to get one. Drying a full size truck is impossible. I have to take it for a 5 minute drive after washing it before I start to dry.
