Quick winter detail of the EVO 8

This is our 1/2 DD split between My Audi S4. But we have been driving the EVO more....

The car is a 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8, 40kmi, purchased Aug 05 with 6miles.

Anyway, hasn't been washed in 3 weeks, hasn't been waxed in 3 months (was in the body shop due to a break in). It was filthy!, I mean, it was embarrassing! The pics do not do it justice. The bad part is, we have been getting rain just about every day for the past 2 moths. Our commute is 35miles one way.

Conditions, light rain & sun, about 38 deg.

Before pics.....

Process...
Wash
Griots car wash in a foam gun 75% car wash 25% water= TONS of foam
2 stage filter & softened water
Amazing Roll off for the tired & engine bay
Bores hair brush
assorted wheel brushes

After wash & light clay
There was hardly anything in the paint, so I used the mild Griot's clay

Light polish
1Z Metalic polish & wax
Metabo rotary 1100rpm's
6.5in Green LC pad
Swirls were not bad, removed/filled about 85%. It was more important to just get some protection on it then a real full detail.

Final wax
1Z Glanz wax
PC SP 2
6.5in red LC pad
Adams VRT on all rubber & hard plastic.
Adams Undercarridge
1Z Gummy Pfledge on the rubber seals
About 6 MF towels

I spent about 3hrs on it, & just did a general wipe down on the interior. On the 1-10 scale on my detailing meter, 10 being Concours clean, this was a 6. As I said, the main purpose was to clean the paint, & put on some sealant, not to get it 100%, but I'm happy with my basically one step.

Next time, I'll try & get the swirl mark shots, & get better after. I know the V is missing on the rear trunk, it was damaged in the break in, & I haven't ordered the $80 UK badge yet.

It was just the exterior, & I didn't do a "real" polish on it. Then there was no taping, or other time consuming parts.

In the spring, when I get 100% of the swirls out & do a real detail, it will take about 8hrs for the exterior & interior. It would take longer, but I keep the car up & that really cuts down on the time per detail.

Aaron, I just sprayed it down, used my brush, then rinsed, dried, & then sprayed, so I "Groused it"
