I am so frustrated at trying to get clean streak-free windows. What do you use that works? Moe? HELP.

 

I use windshield washer fluid. It seems too simple to work, but it does.
And I have dachshunds, so it has to cut through dog snot.

Use a good window cleaner:

Adam's Glass Cleaner
Stoners
Sprayaway

and some good waffle weave microfiber towels. make sure your hands are clean, if you can get some surgical gloves this can will also help. It will prevent the oils/dirt on your hands to transfer into the towel.

Finish up with Einszett Glass Polish this will remove anything else streaks /finger prints and give you a clean glass.

The trick is the towels. You can actually use water, the universal solvent, to clean the windows. I like Meguiar's Detailer Line Glass Cleaner. Using a high quality MF towel, you should get the results you're after. I'll call you and figure out what's going on. Windows are the least fun aspects of detailing, yet one of the most important. You can have the whole car perfect, but smudgy windows, the whole detail is down the tubes.

 

Definitely all about what kind of towel you use on the windows. There are certain type of microfiber towels that don't work well at all, but some do a great job, no matter what you use with them.

I wish I knew what specific ones I use on windows, I just had a few laying around for the longest time that I didn't like. Then I used them on windows and loved them. I think they have shorter 'fibers' than most other ones.

Yep I agree too... the towels are the key. I use 2 towels for my window cleaning. I too use Invisible Glass or the Zaino Z12 for really stubborn stains.

The key is to have one towel to clean the window and while there is still just a bit of haze use the 2nd towel to polish it clean.

Using a 2 towel method you will find you can clean your windows a lot quicker with out the headaches.

Again Invisible Glass is the best I have found. I have been using it for over 6 years!

 

My latest method is polish the glass with chemical Guys gloss Magnifier(wet mirror)inside and out,then go over it with distilled water and waffle weave microfiber,except if there is window tint i use a softer window microfiber towel the waffle weave will put fine marks in the window tint film.

Yes phil i have tint on my Tacoma,and so do most of the cars i work on.What i have noticed is the what makes the waffle weave towel so effective also causes very slight marks that can be seen in direct sunlight or halogen lighting and that using a softer microfiber towel prevents this from happening,as Moe and Detailing Dynamics stated distilled water is the key for finishing the glass or as the follow-up step when quick detailing the paint.

 

Bob thanks for the insight I rarely come upon after market tint as tint is illegal (fronts, rears are okay) in NJ where most my customers are... still thanks for the great tip.

No I have really nice towels, the waffle weave has a more corse short nap which is why they work so well on glass. Most of the tint I come across is the ceramic tint and the shop who installs it here in the Bay Area ( california ) cleans the film with Plexus.

The marks I was talking about were very slight.
