Need suggestions on a Z06

I have a 06 Z that I believe was sitting on the lot for a few months in New Jersey before I picked it up. There were water spots all over the windshield hood and rear hatch. I managed to get the spots off the glass and hood but the rear hatch still has them. It bothers me cause you can only see them at certain angles. I tried claying, vinegar, cleaner/polisher but it has not seemed to get rid of them completely.

So I was looking into getting a Flex buffer. Which one should I get. I do not want to take any chance of marring or causing worse damage to the paint.

I was also recommended menzerna IP and possibly SIP because the vettes clear coat are supposed to be so tough. Any suggestions from the vetrans here? ALl input is welcome.

You can either use the Flex 3401 polisher or use the PC. The Flex is probably going to be the better route though because it will work better on that clear. I have the 3401 and love it. It is still safe like the PC but faster, stronger and wont bog down. You can use the Menz products and with that machine the spots should come right out.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the paint you have is a handful to polish. In my opinion, it is of the most difficult paints to polish out perfectly. Just make sure you tape the edge of the top of the rear bumper where it meets the trunk. That edge is very sharp and it's very easy to burn through the paint. Good luck.

Go with the FLEX 3401, their dual action polisher. Use Menzerna SIP and Nano polish and hopefully that'll take care of everything. If it doesn't, like Matt said, the paint on a vette is hard and it's fiberglass/carbon fiber. Better left to a pro. But I'd give the FLEX/Mnezerna a try since you'd eventually want to do the light polishing yourself down the road anyway. Hope this helps.

As everyone else has already chimed in, that is a good weapon of choice.

Vettes are tough since the clear is so damn hard, and you couple that with it being made of very expensive composite materials that don't react well to heat, flexing, or stress on edges due to its thin paint.

Since this will be your first foray into the world of polishing, TAKE IT SLOW. Take your time and tape off everything. Don't be afraid to ask a million and one questions from the pros here on the board, and really take your time. Being patient will the process will pay off immeasurably when it comes down to the final result.

I can confirm what has already been said. GM clears are the hardest clears period! IF you cannot get them out you will have to wet sand them out. Thanks GM!

I agree with Matt and Moe. The paint on the corvette is difficult to polish. I personally own a Silver 2008 Corvette, not as hard to maintain or polish like a black finish.

We have many customers who own dark color corvettes and we now have the technology to perform paint perfection on these vehicles.

We are currently working on a 2006 black Z06 in the shop today. I have taken before pictures and later will take after. Cannot mention what products are used or polished with because we are not a sponsor yet. Please PM if you would like pic's

Those both look awesome Phil. The SLR shots in the second thread are impressive, especially the reflection and contrast from all the fluorescents.

The final outcome is awesome! Great clarity & Depth with a great gloss. As you can see the are still very minor area's with some light paint imperfections. But not bad for One Step Polish. We use the Cyclo Polisher with the Double Side 4 inch Green / Yellow Foam polishing pad. If anyone is interested in the product or cyclo polisher please PM me!
